The Rundown
Patterson gave up a one-out triple in the top of the first. The very next play, Saucedo fielded a groundball and threw the runner out at home to keep AC off the board. Offensively, Trinity took advantage of all the mistakes Austin College had in the first inning. Saucedo doubled in the home half of the first. Third baseman Marina Delaluna (Concord, Calif. / Concord) and first baseman Jordyn Williams (Clayton, Calif. / Clayton Valley) walked to load the bases. Pena then reached on a fielder's choice with the bases clearing on a throwing error by the second baseman to take an early 4-0 lead.
Pena singled to lead off the third inning and later scored after Watson singled to third base. Delaluna brought Saucedo in on a sacrifice fly to center to bring in another run in the fourth inning.
With the Tigers up 6-0 heading into the fifth, Patterson stranded a runner on second to keep the 'Roos off the board. Pena reached on an error and immediately stole second in the fifth inning. Watson then singled and stole second to steal and put runners in scoring position. With one out, Dawson Dabboussi (Dallas, Texas / Highland Park) brought in both runners on a pinch-hit single up the middle to walk off Austin College.
