SHERMAN, Texas - No. 13 Trinity University Women's Tennis logged its third shutout victory in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play, eighth overall this season, in a road victory at Austin College Saturday.
The Tigers (12-7, 3-0 SCAC) collected straight-sets shutouts in lines three through five of singles action to go along with victories of 8-2 and 8-0 in the first two lines of doubles play.
Megan Flores (Houston, Texas / Clear Lake) and Cate Cushing (Colleyville, Texas / Colleyville Heritage) took the 8-2 mark in line one of the early portion to improve to 13-6 on the season. Trinity Hatchett (Pearland, Texas / Dawson) and Jenna Lee (San Clemente, Calif. / Jserra Catholic) notched the shutout victory in the second line in their second match together this season for a 2-0 record in SCAC matches.
Constanza Gomez (San Jose, Costa Rica / Blue Valley) was the first to check in with a straight-sets shutout and due to a default in the sixth line, she earned the fifth team point to clinch the victory. Sam Miller (Georgetown, Texas / Georgetown) and Ella Cummings (Albuquerque, N.M. / Sandia) collected the remaining shutouts in singles from the fourth and third lines, respectively.
Elodie Richard (Allen, Texas / Allen) collected a 10-6 superbreaker in her first line-one match of the season just before Ellie Hughes (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) completed the shutout victory in line two, 6-3, 6-1.
No. 13 Trinity Women's Tennis visits No. 29 University of Texas-Dallas Sunday before returning to San Antonio to host NCAA II Dallas Baptist University for Senior Day and exhibition competition.
