SAN ANTONIO – Trinity University Women's Tennis begins the 2023 home schedule Friday at 3:00 p.m. with Our Lady of the Lake University at the
Butch Newman Tennis Center.
The Tigers (1-1) split their opening weekend in Abilene, Texas last weekend with an 8-1 victory over Hardin-Simmons University Friday, followed by a defeat at the hands of NCAA I Abilene Christian University, 7-0, Saturday morning.
Trinity opened the 2023 season ranked 16
th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, and will stay there until the ITA's next scheduled team rankings release on March 10.

Cate Cushing (Colleyville, Texas / Heriatge) and first-year
Trinity Levy (Camarillo, Calif. / Weil Tennis Academy) finished the fall season ranked 16
th nationally in doubles, followed by the sophomore pair of
Ruth Hill (Abilene, Texas / Abilene) and
Olivia Kim (Phoenix, Ariz. / Desert Mountain) at 25
th. Levy (28
th) and Hill (45
th) also held national singles rankings heading into the spring. New individual rankings are scheduled to be released by the ITA on March 24.
Our Lady of the Lake opened its spring schedule with an unsuccessful pair against NCAA I McNeese State University on January 22, but followed last Friday with back-to-back shutout performances over Texas Lutheran University at the Blossom Tennis Center in San Antonio.
Despite being just a stone's throw away, the Tigers and Saints will meet for the first time in over a decade for Friday's affair. Trinity won the previous meeting, 9-0, on the same day the Tiger men battled OLLU to a 5-4 victory with both teams under the direction of current Trinity Men's Tennis Coach

Trinity Women's Tennis will remain in San Antonio for the next six matches following Friday's home-opener, with final in the seven-match a homestand being a matchup with reigning NCAA III runner-up No. 2 University of Chicago on March 15.
