CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Trinity University first-year women's tennis player
Eva Kovachev (Arlington, Texas / The Oakridge School) was eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Division III Singles Championships on Friday.
Kovachev was matched up against Lia Melvin of Johns Hopkins University (MD) in her opening match, which was a 6-4, 6-4 loss. Kovachev finished the season with a 10-5 singles record in dual matches, playing as Trinity's line one player for all but one of those contests. She also tied for the team lead with 14 doubles wins, sporting a 14-2 doubles record this season.
This season, Kovachev was the Southern Athletic Association Athlete of the Year and Rookie of the Year, picking up First Team All-SAA honors in singles as well. She was a five-time SAA Player of the Week in singles and doubles and also made the SAA All-Tournament Team.
