No. 10/10 Tiger Women's Basketball takes their first out-of-state trip this season when they go to Tacoma, Washington to take on Willamette University and the University of Puget Sound in a pair of midweek games.
Â
The Tigers (8-1) played lights out and crushed two conference opponents last weekend. The Tigers defeated Austin College 92-50 and the University of Dallas 100-62. Sophomore
Natalie Anderson (San Jose, California / Archbishop Mitty) put in 32 points and 26 rebounds. Against Dallas, Anderson had the first 20-20 game since 2007.
Josie Napoli (Beaverton, Oregon / Valley Catholic) continues being the hot hand, scoring 35 points across the two games and shooting 55 percent from three.Â
SCAC Player of the Week and D3hoops.com Team of the Week - Natalie Anderson
For the third time this season,
Natalie Anderson has been selected as the SCAC Player of the Week and was also selected to the D3hoops Team of the Week for the second time.
From the SCAC Press Release:
Anderson led No. 10 Trinity to a pair of home wins in SCAC play over the weekend, defeating both Austin College and Dallas to improve to a perfect 4-0 in league play. Anderson averaged 16.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per game over the two victories, adding 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game to her stat line. She connected on 86.7 percent (13-of-15) from the field and 75 percent (6-for-8) from the free throw line, and did all her damage despite averaging just 22.5 minutes per game. In Saturday's win over Dallas, Anderson had her best game of the weekend with 21 points and 20 rebounds, shooting 8-for-9 from the field and 5-for-6 from the line. She is the just the eighth Tiger player ever to score 20 points and 20 rebounds in the same game, though she is the first to do so since the 2007-08 season. This season, Anderson is leading Trinity with 18.8 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per game, as well as shooting a team-best 63.6 percent (63-for-99) from the field.

Preview - Tigers In Tacoma
Â
The Tigers will open their road trip against Willamette on Tuesday, December 19th at 4:00 PM (PT), and then they will have a 24-hour turnaround as they will play the University of Puget Sound on Wednesday, December 20th at 4:00 PM (PT).Â
Â
On the Willamette Bearcats: The Bearcats are 4-5 (2-0 NWC) so far in the 2023-24 season. The Tigers will not be the first Texas team that has faced the Bearcats this season. The Bearcats took on UMHB earlier this year and were crushed 86-49. In their last five games, the Bearcats are 3-2 but dropped their most recent game against Oregon Tech. The Bearcats are led by a trio of scorers that average 10 or more points per game this season. However, besides those scorers, the Bearcats have struggled off the bench and are only averaging 63.2 points per game as a team. In their lone matchup against each other in 2017, the Tigers defeated the Bearcats 62-46.Â
Â
On the Puget Sound Loggers: The Loggers sport a 5-3 (2-0 NWC) record so far. The Loggers are 4-1 in their last five games and are on a three-game winning streak. The Loggers are tough defensively, only allowing their opponents to score 59.9 points per game. On the flip side, the Loggers have struggled offensively, averaging 68.8 points per game. The Loggers are led by a pair of senior guards, Kennedy Brown and Paige Gerhart, both of whom are averaging over 13 points per game this season. The two guards are prone to foul trouble, however, as they have both fouled out of at least one game so far this season. Look for the Tigers to attack and get them into early foul trouble to take them out of the game. All time, the Tigers are 5-2 against the Loggers since their first matchup in 2002.Â
Â
Key To The Game
Â
Stay Hot: In back-to-back games, the Tigers have scored over 90 points. The Tigers are shooting 44 percent from the field and 37 percent from three which can make a brutal combination for opponents. Look for Napoli and
Jamie Ruede (Pipe Creek, Texas / Boerne) to let it fly from deep with Anderson and
Elaine King (Cedar Park, Texas / Cedar Park) crashing the offensive boards for second-chance buckets.Â
Â
Looking Ahead - Viva Las Vegas
The Tigers will take another road trip to Las Vegas, Nevada to take on Ohio Northern and Framingham State on December 28th and 29th. Â
