SAN ANTONIO – No. 8 Trinity University Men's Tennis closed out their regular season with a 9-0 conference win over Schreiner University on Saturday, making it their 10
th time to sweep the Mountaineers since 2010.
The Tigers (13-6; 4-1 SCAC) opened their day with a reverse sweep in doubles play. Seniors
Austin Lee (Frisco, Texas / Frisco) and
Allen Song (Portland, Ore. / Lincoln) secured a line three 8-2 victory to kick of the sweep.
Fellow seniors
Cal Hunter (Lafayette, Calif. / Campolindo) and
Cameron Goldstein (Dallas, Texas / Episcopal) followed closely with a mark of 8-3 from line two. Junior duo
Rob Chang (Aiea, Hawaii / 'Iolani School) and
Dalton Locke (Humble, Texas / Kingwood) found themselves competing in line one today and wrapped up the shutout of doubles play, posting a score of 8-6.
Sophomore
Connor Whittington (Lake Oswego, Ore. / Lake Oswego) jumped out of the gates with a shutout victory from the second line. First-year
Rafa Candelas Ruiz (Zacatecas, Mexico / American School [Spain]) clinched the match for Trinity from line three, with another straight-set victory of 6-3, 6-0.
Chang added on another point with his 6-1, 6-1 win from line four, followed closely by sophomore teammate
Eric Liao (Taipei, Taiwan / Boca Prep [FL]) who played the closest line of the day going 6-1, 7-5 from line one.
Goldstein posted the eighth point of the match with his 6-4, 6-1 mark from line five. Hunter finished off the Senior Day sweep with a mark of 6-3, 6-1 from line six, completing the Tigers' fourth shutout of the season.

No. 8 Trinity Men's Tennis will head to Georgetown, Texas, next weekend for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The Tournament runs from April 28-30 and is hosted by Southwestern University.
