SAN ANTONIO – Trinity's softball team closes out the regular season schedule with a three-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series on the road against Austin College.
The Tigers come into the final weekend of the regular season with a 10-26 overall record and a 7-10 SCAC record, which has the team sixth in the conference standings. Austin College is one spot behind Trinity in the standings with a 7-28 overall mark and a 3-15 record in conference. Depending on the results of the weekend, the Tigers could move up as high as fourth in the standings.
Trinity closed out its regular season home schedule by sweeping the University of Dallas in a three-game SCAC series, which was the first sweep of the year for the Tigers. Trinity won 3-0 on Friday to start things off, then swept Saturday's doubleheader 10-2 and 9-0 in a pair of run-rule games that lasted just five innings. Senior
Emery Boettcher (Fredericksburg, Texas / Fredericksburg) earned the complete-game victory in the circle for Saturday's first game, which she also ended with a pinch-hit RBI single to enact the run-rule and start the Senior Day celebration in style.
Dawson Dabboussi (Dallas, Texas / Highland Park) is leading Trinity with a .400 batting average (30-for-75) this season, scoring 12 runs and collecting 15 RBI.
Carsyn Lee (Flower Mound, Texas / Flower Mound) is hitting .348 (31-for-89) with 11 runs scored and a team-best 20 RBI. She also leads Trinity with 13 walks and has a .431 on-base percentage.
Jessie Lloyd (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. / Trabuco Hills) has nabbed a team-best 34 hits this year and scored 18 times to go with 18 RBI. She has seven doubles to pace the Tigers and has tied Lee with 13 walks for the team lead.
Hayden Del Toro (Cypress, Texas / Cy Woods) has swiped 11 stolen bases in 13 attempts to lead the team in steals and has also posted a .403 on-base percentage. Recently,
Marina Delaluna (Concord, Calif. / Concord) hit her third home of the season to become Trinity's all-time leader in career homers, and she also leads Trinity with 22 runs scored this year.
First-year
Jordan Arce (Thousand Oaks, Calif. / Thousand Oaks) has come on strong of late to lead Trinity's pitching staff. She earned two of the three wins against Dallas last weekend. She has struck out 51 batters in 66.0 innings and is holding teams to a .230 batting average this year. Boettcher has also passed 60 innings pitched on the year and last weekend marked her second complete-game effort of the year.
Brooke Porter (Carmel, Ind. / Heritage Christian) leads the staff with a 4.83 ERA and holds a 2-2 record on the year.
Awards and Honors: SCAC Pitcher of the Week
Arce earned the first SCAC Player of the Week award for Trinity this season after leading the Tigers to their first SCAC series sweep of the season. Arce earned two of the three wins, allowing just two hits in her 11.0 innings pitched and striking out 10 batters. She threw a one-hit shutout in Trinity's 3-0 win to open the series, then she had a combined shutout to close out the weekend, giving up one hit in 4.0 innings.

Trinity and Austin College have played each other 50 times since the Kangaroos joined the SCAC in 2006-07. The Tigers are 43-7 against the 'Roos during that time, which includes a 22-4 record on the road in the series. Trinity has won 12 straight meetings between the two schools – including six under the guidance of Head Coach
Abby Martin – and has not lost since the 2017 season.
Chyrsi Hemby leads Austin with a .416 batting average (32-for-77) and 13 doubles, along with 17 runs scored and 22 RBI. Kaitlyn Barrett has driven in a team-best 25 RBI, launching six home runs and scoring 19 runs. Elizabeth Preston has scored 23 runs and swiped 14 steals. Allie Jeter has collected three of the team's seven wins this year and leads the team with 20 strikeouts. Â AD Smith holds a 4.30 ERA and has pitched four complete games, striking out 16 batters.
Looking Ahead: Home for the SCAC Tournament (May 5-7)
Trinity will host the 2023 SCAC Championship Tournament from Friday, May 5 through Sunday, May 7. The games begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday and will conclude with the Championship game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Final seeding will be determined by this weekend's results, but qualifying for the tournament (in addition to Trinity) are Texas Lutheran University, University of St. Thomas, Southwestern University, Centenary College, and Schreiner University.
