Box Score SHERMAN, Texas – Trinity's softball team closed out the regular season with a 5-4 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road win over Austin College on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers improved to 13-26 overall and evened their SCAC record at 10-10 for the year. Austin College fell to 7-31 overall and 7-18 in conference.

Marina Delaluna (Concord, Calif. / Concord) and Jessie Lloyd (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. / Trabuco Hills) drove in two runs each and Lloyd went 2-for-4 with a double on the day. Diamond Elizondo (San Antonio, Texas / Stevens) went 2-for-2 with a double, scoring once and driving in another run.

Jordan Arce (Thousand Oaks, Calif. / Thousand Oaks) picked up the win, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings, and allowing just two runs (just one earned) on two hits. Brooke Porter (Carmel, Ind. / Heritage Christian) earned the save by pitching the final 2.1 innings.

The Tigers carry the momentum of a six-game winning streak into next weekend's SCAC Tournament, which will be hosted by Trinity, May 5-7.

The Rundown
Trinity left the bases loaded in the top of the first and another runner on base in the second, but still got on the board first with a pair in the third. Hayden Del Toro (Cypress, Texas / Cy Woods) got the inning started with a single and a stolen base, then Dawson Dabboussi (Dallas, Texas / Highland Park) knocked a single to center to put runners on the corners. Arce came in to run for Dabboussi and promptly stole second to set up Delaluna, who delivered a two-run single to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

Elizondo singled to lead off the fourth, followed by a bunt single from Angela Baltzell (Antioch, Calif. / Freedom) to set the table for the top of the Trinity order. Lloyd doubled to score both runners and double Trinity's lead to 4-0.

After giving up a leadoff single, Arce retired nine straight batters that included her striking out the side in the second. She gave up a leadoff walk in the bottom of the fourth and that eventually led to a run for the 'Roos. Arce got a strikeout for the second out of the inning, but it came on a steal attempt, and a throwing error allowed the unearned run to make it a 4-1 game.

Abigail Miller (Winnetka, Calif. / El Camino Real) started a two-out rally in the fifth to get another run for the Tigers, smacking a single to center field. Diamond Elizondo (San Antonio, Texas / Stevens) followed that up with a double to make it a 5-1 game.

Three walks issued by Arce in the bottom of the fifth led to another Austin run on a sac fly, then another walk chased the Tiger starter from the game. Porter came in and got the final out as the 'Roos left the bases loaded.

Austin College mounted a rally in the bottom of the seventh, beginning with two infield singles. Porter got the next two hitters out, but the home team picked up a two-run single to put the tying run on base. Porter shut down the comeback bid with a ground ball to second to secure Trinity's weekend sweep.

Trinity will host the SCAC Tournament next weekend, beginning on Friday, May 5. The Championship game will be on Sunday, May 7. Final seedings and matchups will be announced by the SCAC.
