The Tigers earned championships in women's golf, men's track & field, women's track & field, men's tennis, women's tennis, and baseball - coupled with earlier titles in women's soccer, men's swimming & diving, women's swimming & diving and women's basketball, to keep its streak of 10 or more conference championships in an academic year alive - a streak that now extends 10 years (excluding the COVID-abbreviated 2019-20 season). Beginning with the 2012-13 season and excluding 2019-20, the Tigers have won 15, 13, 10, 12, 10, 10, 11, 13, 10 and 10 conference titles over the last decade plus.Â
This year's Presidents Trophy marks the 12th consecutive all-sports title for the program and 23rd overall - both all-time SCAC marks. Each of the 23 Presidents' Trophy championships have come under the direction of three-time National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics NCAA III Athletic Director of the Year
Bob King, who is finishing his 30th year in charge of the Trinity Athletics programs. Under his direction, six Trinity teams have captured NCAA III or ITA Championships, while six individual student-athletes have won a total of 10 NCAA III titles, and a total of 15 tennis players have won 12 ITA National Championships.
Trinity finished no worse than third in any sport this season, posting second-place finishes in both men's and women's cross country as well as men's soccer in the fall. The Trinity volleyball team, which advanced to the Division III national championship match, was upset in the conference tournament semifinals and earned a tie for third place at that championship. The Trinity men's basketball team made it to the SCAC tournament final before falling in the championship game. This spring, both the men's golf team and the softball team took home third place finishes.
The Tigers accumulated 622.5 total points in the all-sports standings, 192.5 points clear of Southwestern University who completed the 2022-23 campaign with 430 total points. The 192.5-point margin of victory marks the second-largest in the 61-year history of the award - second only to the 195-point margin the 2013-14 Trinity program tallied while taking home that season's all-sports trophy almost a decade ago.
