HOUSTON – Trinity women's soccer had 11 players selected for All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors, led by Defensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year
Kylie Harris (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point). The Tigers also won the Coaching Staff of the Year award, led by Head Coach
Dylan Harrison.
Harris is the first women's soccer player in SCAC history to earn a Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year award in the same season. She is Trinity's first Newcomer of the Year since her teammate
Hanna Khan (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) took the honors in 2022, and Harris is the 11th overall Tiger women's soccer player to win it. Harris also secured the fourth straight Defensive Player of the Year honor after Trinity graduate
Bailey Meyer (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) won the last three in a row. This season is also the 13th time a Trinity women's soccer player has earned the league's top defensive award. Harris was also named to the All-SCAC First Team and to the All-SCAC Freshman Team.
Coach Harrison is joined by Assistant Coaches
Spencer Valdespino and Andy Williamson in winning this season's SCAC Coaching Staff of the Year award. This is Trinity's third straight year to earn the distinction, as well as the sixth overall time for Coach Harrison. That ties him with former Tiger Head Coach Nick Cowell for the second-most in school history. This also marks the 20th time that a Trinity head coach or coaching staff has earned the Coach of the Year award.
There were five Tiger women's soccer players named to the All-SCAC First Team. In addition to Harris, seniors
Lauryn Lewis (Carrollton, Texas / Creekview) and
Michaela Bosco (Weatherford, Texas / Weatherford), junior transfer
Bri Werner (Woodbine, Md. / Glenelg), and sophomore
Malea Cesar (Portland, Ore. / Sunset) were all voted to the team. Bosco was a member of the All-SCAC Freshman Team in 2021 and has now been selected to the First Team for three straight years. Lewis was All-SCAC Honorable Mention in 2022, then made the Second Team in 2023. Cesar was an All-SCAC Honorable Mention player and a member of the All-SCAC Freshman Team last season. Werner, who transferred from Coastal Carolina University (SC) this season, picked up her first All-SCAC honor.
Senior
Abby Schneider (Albuquerque, N.M. / Bosque School) and junior
Clara Richards (Buffalo, N.Y. / Williamsville South) were both voted to the All-SCAC Second Team. Richards is a first-time All-SCAC honoree, while Schneder has earned Second Team recognition each of the past two seasons. There were four more Tigers who were announced as All-SCAC Honorable Mention players this season. Senior
Taylor Campbell (Edinburg, Texas / Robert Vela) was joined by sophomores
Daryan Willyard (Austin, Texas / Lake Travis) and
Madisyn Barganski (Corpus Christi, Texas / Flour Bluff), as well as first-year
Elie Kriek (New Orleans, La. / The Willow School). Campbell was named to the 2021 All-SCAC Freshman Team, while Willyard snagged similar honors in 2023. This is the first All-SCAC selection for Barganski and Kriek, and Kriek was also selected to this year's All-SCAC Freshman Team.
Trinity entered this weekend's SCAC Tournament as the top seed after winning the SCAC Regular Season Championship with a perfect 10-0-0 conference record. After winning today's SCAC Tournament Semifinal game 1-0 over Southwestern University (TX), the Tigers are 15-1-2 overall this season and are riding a 12-game winning streak heading into Sunday's SCAC Tournament Championship.
