Trinity University Women's Basketball is set and ready to go for the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The Tigers (20-5) finished the regular season with two big wins over St. Thomas and Centenary. Trinity would wipe the floor against the Celts 90-79 behind Josie Napoli (Beaverton, Oregon / Valley Catholic) and her 21 points. However, against Centenary, the Tigers were on another level. TU blew out Centenary 80-47 and Jamie Ruede (Pipe Creek, Texas / Boerne) would torch the Ladies for 27 points and eight three-pointers, breaking Trinity's all time record for threes made in a game.

Preview - Going For Gold In The Gold Dome

The Tigers will be the top-seeded team in the SCAC tournament hosted by Centenary College. With that, the Tigers will receive a first-round bye and play the winner of Austin College versus Schreiner on Saturday, February 24th at noon.

Seeding:

1-Seed: Trinity
2-Seed: Texas Lutheran
3-Seed: Colorado College
4-Seed: Schreiner
5-Seed: Austin College
6-Seed: Dallas

Scouting the Competition: The Tigers have dominated the SCAC this season. All but two of their wins have been by double digits. Although Trinity did drop a game to Colorado earlier this year, they came back and beat them by 10 one month later. Schreiner did cause trouble for TU in their second game but the Tigers bounced back and scored 80 or more points in their next three games. If the Tigers can continue their game plan of shooting the ball with ease from behind the arc, they will be in a good position to take the cake.

Key to the Game

Big Shooters: Trinity has been reliant on the three ball this season, especially from Napoli and Ruede. However, when the Tigers get others involved, such as Maggie Robbins (Plano, Texas / Plano) and Bailey Timmons (Argyle, Texas / Argyle), they show how deep they are as a team and that anyone on the squad can wreck opposing defenses.

Looking Ahead

The Tigers will look to prevail and get a bid to the NCAA III Tournament that will start on the weekend of March 2nd.
