Trinity University Softball will take on a pair of Oregonian teams when they take on George Fox and Lewis & Clark.
Â
The Tigers (6-4) split both doubleheaders last weekend. The Tigers kept it close in every game, picking up two walk-off wins.
Hannah Boudreaux (Pearland, Texas / Shadow Creek) had an excellent weekend, hitting .600 (6-10) and collecting six RBIs.
Heather Nugent (Huntingdon, California / Marina) also put up good performances in the circle as she went a total of five innings and only gave up one run on four hits. Through the first three weeks of non-conference play, the Tigers sit second in the SCAC standings behind undefeated Texas Lutheran.

Preview - Oaks vs Pines
Â
These Texas vs Oregon match ups will begin with the Tigers traveling to Georgetown to take on George Fox on Saturday, March 1st at noon, and then will be back home for a doubleheader against Lewis & Clark on Sunday, March 3rd at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM.Â
Â
On the George Fox Bruins: The Bruins are an early 2-0 after picking up two wins against Warner Pacific. George Fox smashed six doubles and four total home runs on the way to a .418 team average. George Fox is led by graduate infielder Kamryn Potter who is batting .600 with one home run and four RBIs. The Bruins have a pitcher who threw a complete game with nine strikeouts, but the other George Fox pitchers struggled. The other two Bruin pitchers posted an 8.40 ERA. The Tigers are 0-2 against George Fox all time.
Â
On the Lewis & Clark Pioneers: The Pioneers split their opening series against Bushnell. Winning 8-0 in six innings during game one and losing 3-6 in game two. The L&C offense is very top-heavy. The Pioneers are going to rely on senior Sam Gildersleeve. Gildersleeve had an excellent opening weekend, betting .571 with a double, two triples, and six RBIs. They are going to put the ball in play so the Tiger defense will need to be on their toes and ready to make plays. The Pioneer pitching staff is a squad that will challenge you with their stuff as they collected 12 strikeouts in 13 innings of play. This will be the first time that The Tigers will have played the Pioneers.Â
Â
Key To The Game
Â
See It Up: Both staffs are going to try to get the Tiger hitters to extend their zone and chase. With a high strikeout rate, opposing pitchers will attempt to get ahead so they can try to throw offspeed later in the count. So the Tigers will need to be disciplined in the box and attack early strikes so that these pitchers cannot get into their secondary pitchers.Â
Â
Looking Ahead
Â
The Tigers will open conference play against Schreiner University at home starting on Saturday, March 9th.Â
