Â
Preview - Spring Break
Â
The Tigers will start their week with a doubleheader against Mary Hardin-Baylor on Tuesday, March 12th at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Next, the Tigers will play against LeTourneau on Thursday, March 14th at noon and 2:00 PM. Trinity will round out spring break against La Roche on Friday, March 15th with games at noon and 2:00 PM.Â
Â
On the UMHB Crusaders: The Crusaders are 4-7 so far this season. The Crusaders were swept in a conference series against McMurry. UMHB has sprinkled in wins here and there but they have struggled at the plate. The Crusaders have not scored double-digit runs this season. That being said, the Crusaders are batting .296 as a team and sport a 4.75 ERA. The Crusaders have only used three pitchers this season in starting and relief roles. All time, the Tigers are 11-26 against UMHB.Â
Â
On the LeTourneau Yellowjackets: LeTourneau has a 5-6 in 2024. In their last seven games, the Yellowjackets are 5-2 and are coming off a series win against Concordia. LeTourneau has had a hard time at the plate, only hitting .255. Even though there is a low average, the Yellowjackets have some power in the middle of the lineup. Despite that, the Yellowjackets are leaning on the arm of Hailee Leger. Leger has a 2.03 ERA with 31 innings pitched. Trinity is 4-5 against LeTourneau all time.Â
Â
On the La Roche Redhawks: La Roche is 0-1 with the late start to their season. The Redhawks will make their way around Texas to play Austin College, Dallas, and then Trinity. The Redhawks took a tough 8-0 loss in game one against the Roos. La Roche is batting .182 with a 9.88 ERA. In the 2023 season, the Redhawks were 15-23 and were inconsistent with both hitting and pitching. This will be the first time the Tigers and Redhawks have ever played each other.
Â
Key to the Game
Â
RISP: The Tigers got plenty of people on base this weekend and stole bags left and right, but they struggled at times to bring those runners in. The Tiger lineup can take advantage of struggling opposing defenses and pitching. Look for the Tigers to look for the middle of their lineup to find holes and put the ball in play to bring in runners and put up double-digit runs.Â
Â
Looking Ahead
Â
Trinity will get back into conference play when they play against the University of St. Thomas on March 22nd and 23rd.Â
