Olivia Kim (Phoenix, Arizona / Desert Mountain) have been selected as the SCAC Doubles Team of the Week.
From the SCAC Press Release:
Kim, a junior from Phoenix, Ariz., and Hill, a junior from Abilene, Texas, went undefeated in doubles play as the 12th-ranked Trinity women's tennis team split matches against #15 Babson College and #3 Emory University. Hill and Kim opened the week against the 2023 NCAA Doubles Runner-up team from Babson, earning an 8-6 victory that proved critical to the team's 5-4 victory over the Beavers. The Tiger duo came back the next day and opened the match against Emory with an 8-5 win at #1 doubles that was one of just two points in the team's 7-2 defeat.
Preview - Trying To Cruz To Victory
The Tigers will play against UC-Santa Cruz on Friday, April 12th at 4:00 PM. With the Banana Slugs being ranked No. 21, this will be the tenth ranked opponent that Trinity has played against this season. TU is 5-4 against nationally ranked opponents.
On the No. 34 UC-Santa Cruz Banana Slugs: UC-Santa Cruz is 9-4 this season. The Banana Slugs have not had success against ranked opponents this season as they are 0-2 after losing to Chapman and Redlands. Besides that, the Banana Slugs have defeated other strong opponents such as Cal Lutheran and SCAC rival Colorado College. Although their strength of schedule is not the best this season, UCSC is a competitive team that could cause a problem for those who take them lightly. Since 2011, the Tigers are 1-1 against UC-Santa Cruz but swept their most recent match in 2019.
Looking Ahead
The Tigers will play against SCAC rival Southwestern on April 19th at 3:00 PM.
