NACOGDOCHES/ABILENE, Texas – The Trinity men's and women's track & field teams closed out the weekend by competing at both the War Hawk Classic and the Carl Kight Invitational on Saturday, hosted by McMurry University and Stephen F. Austin State University, respectively.
The Tigers competed in extremely windy conditions that affected results for today, making some of them unusable for NCAA qualifying purposes. Numerous personal records were broken at both meets in both running and field events.
War Hawk Classic, hosted by McMurry
Emilie Mireles (Brownsville, Texas / Hanna Early College) had new personal records in both the high jump and the long jump, while teammate
Ciandra Carrico (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) edged her previous best mark in the long jump as well. Mireles was sixth in the long jump with a mark of 4.83 meters, while Carrico reached 4.57 meters and finished 10th. Mireles was eighth in the high jump after clearing 1.45 meters to finish eighth with a height that is a season-high for Trinity.
The men's high jump also went well for
Trent Svacina (Alamo Heights, Texas / Alamo Heights) and
Kris Duggan (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson), who tied for fourth after clearing 1.80 meters to match their season-best. Duggan was also sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.89 seconds, and Svacina was 14th in 16.27 seconds. Both times are new personal records for the Tiger student-athletes.
Men's long jump, men's and women's triple jump, and men's and women's pole vault results are all not available yet.
Carl Kight Invitational, hosted by Stephen F. Austin

The women's hammer featured two Tigers in the top 15, led by
