Box Score SEGUIN, Texas – The Trinity Tiger softball team opened up a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend on the road with an 8-0 loss to 11th-ranked Texas Lutheran University on Friday night.
Trinity fell to 25-10 overall and 13-3 in SCAC play this season, while the Bulldogs improved to 24-2 overall and 15-1 in conference play. Texas Lutheran snagged two runs in the third and another in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs then blew the game open with a five-run sixth inning, enacting the run-rule and ending the game.
Jordan Arce (Thousand Oaks, Calif. / Thousand Oaks) was charged with the loss and fell to 12-5 this season. Arce allowed five runs on eight hits over five-plus innings of work, striking out six batters.
Carsyn Lee (Flower Mound, Texas / Flower Mound) got the only hit of the game for the Tigers, knocking a one-out single to break up the no-hitter.
Angela Baltzell (Antioch, Calif. / Freedom) drew a walk immediately after to put two runners on, but TLU got the next two hitters out to end the only threat of the night for the Tiger offense.
