Box Score 2 SAN ANTONIO – Trinity's 14th-ranked women's tennis team finished off the regular season schedule with a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victories over Southwestern University and Colorado College on Friday.
The Colorado match was scheduled for Saturday afternoon, but was moved to late Friday in anticipation of rainy weather. Trinity won 5-1 over Southwestern earlier in the evening, then clinched a win over Colorado by sweeping all three doubles and the first three singles matches.
The Tigers swept doubles to open the match against Southwestern, beginning with an 8-1 win by
Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Ponderosa) and
Ellie Hughes (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) at line three.
Cate Cushing (Colleyville, Texas / Heritage) and
Trinity Levy (Camarillo, Calif. / Weil Tennis Academy) scored an 8-4 win at line two, then
Olivia Kim (Phoenix, Ariz. / Desert Mountain) and
Ruth Hill (Abilene, Texas / Abilene) clinched the sweep with an 8-6 win at #1 doubles.
Andrade won 6-2, 6-2 at line two to open singles action and put Trinity in front 4-0 at the time. Cushing was edged 4-6, 5-7 at line three as Southwestern avoided the sweep, then
Rebecca Stepleman (Atlanta, Ga. / Georgia Connections Academy) clinched the Tiger win with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at #5 singles. Trinity had first-set victories in each of the remaining singles matches on the court.
Against Colorado College, Trinity once again came out strong with another sweep of doubles matches. Kim and Hill once again took the top-line honors, followed by Andrade and Hughes also winning at line two. Stepleman teamed up with
Elodie Richard (Allen, Texas / Allen) teamed up for a #3 doubles win to complete the sweep.
Hughes took the line one victory to open singles play, then Andrade and Stepleman won at lines two and five, respectively, to put the Tigers up 6-0 at the time and clinch the match.

With the late-night match against Colorado College getting squeezed in, Trinity has completed the regular season and will next play at the SCAC Championships. The Tigers will travel to Austin College for the tournament, held April 27-28, in Sherman, Texas.
