SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Trinity men's and women's track & field team continued to move up the all-time record book with several new personal records at the David Noble Relays on Saturday, hosted by Angelo State University.
The Tiger men's 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay both finished in the top five in today's meet, while also moving up to sixth on Trinity's all-time list. The men's relay team of
Legend Grigsby (Houston, Texas / Cypress Creek),
Orie Piken (Torrance, Calif. / West Torrance),
Brian Rainey (Cedar Hill, Texas / Cedar Hill), and
Azariah Anderson (Saint Charles, Mo. / Francis Howell North) were fourth with a time of 41.68 seconds in the 4x100 relay. The 4x400 team of
Price Schultea (Cypress, Texas / Cypress Christian),
Nicolas Ladreyt (Santa Monica, Calif. / Harvard-Westlake School),
Jackson Gallagher (Ft. Worth, Texas / Southwest Christian), and
Justin Johnson (Houston, Texas / Manvel) was third in a time of 3:16.42.
Schultea also had an outstanding race in the 200-meter dash, finishing in a PR time of 21.63 seconds that is just 0.01 second from Trinity's all-time record. Ladreyt moved up to 7th in school history with his time of 49.04 seconds in the 400-meter dash. Grigsby was Trinity's top finisher in the 100-meter dash as well, clocking in at 10.82 seconds for a new personal record that also puts him back in the Tiger top 10. Johnson also finished fourth in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.98.
Joy Areola (Tomball, Texas / Rosehill Christian School) continued her outstanding season in the long jump and the triple jump. She moved up to second in school history with her long jump mark of 5.73 meters that was good for third in today's competition. She also hit 12.17 meters in the triple jump, which is the second-best mark in school history - trailing only the school record she set just two weeks ago.
Ciandra Carrico (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) and
Emilie Mireles (Brownsville, Texas / Hanna Early College) also had new personal records in the triple jump.
Tias McClarty (Norman, Okla. / Norman) also moved up to fifth on Trinity's all-time list in the long jump after surpassing seven meters for the first time in his career. He finished fourth in the competition today with a jump of 7.09 meters.
Bocar Diagana (Edina, Minn. / Edina) also had a new PR with a jump of 6.36 meters.
CC Gray (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Notre Dame Prep) finished eighth in the prelims of the women's 400-meter dash, crossing the line in 57.82 seconds to qualify for the finals. In those finals, she finished sixth with a time of 58.30 seconds.
Lillian Broussard (Houston, Texas / National Christian) and
Vanessa Garcia (Seguin, Texas / Navarro) were also in the top 20 in the race with new personal records.
Moises Lopez Guarnero (Mexico City, Mexico / TMI Episcopal) also had a new PR in the men's race.
Jordan Ayala (San Juan, Texas / Edinburg) established a new PR in the shot put with a mark of 13.89 meters that finished eighth.
Heath Schake (Wimberley, Texas / Wimberley) moved up to ninth in school history (just behind Ayala) with his new PR throw of 13.74 meters on Saturday. Schake also missed his PR in the hammer by just 0.60 meters, finishing 10th with a throw of 41.36 meters.
Rachel Bell (Manvel, Texas / Lutheran South Academy) got a new PR in the women's shot put with a throw of 10.66 meters, while Bell and
Kate Ballengee (Albuquerque, N.M. / Bosque School) narrowly missed new personal bests in the hammer as well. Bell finished eighth with a throw of 42.00 meters that was just 0.22 meters from her record, while Ballengee was ninth with a mark of 40.10 that was just 0.47 from her own record. Both Tigers eclipsed 40 meters for just the second time in their careers.
Yasmin Subawalla (Houston, Texas / Singapore American School) finished the women's 100 in a time of 12.65 that nets her a spot in the top 10 in school history.
Ryan Rager-Aguiar (Spring Hill, Tenn. / Independence) was third in the men's 1500-meter run, finishing in 4:07.18.
Pierce Jackson (Addison, Texas / Dallas Jesuit) finished second in the men's javelin with a throw of 52.80 meters that is the second-best of his career.
