AZUSA, Calif. – Select distance runners from the Trinity men's and women's track & field teams competed at the APU Franson Last Chance Meet, hosted by Azusa Pacific University this weekend.
The Tiger teams were led by
Will Salony (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce), who broke the school record on his way to a top-10 finish in the men's mile run. Salony finished in 4:05.77, which is a converted time of approximately 3:47. The official conversion time will be posted on Sunday.
Jared Gallagher (Ft. Worth, Texas / Southwest Christian) and
Ben Whittemore (Georgetown, Texas / Georgetown) narrowly missed hitting personal records in the men's 800-meter run on Friday. Gallagher was less than one second from his all-time best after finishing in 1:56.70 at the APU Meet. Whittemore was just over a second from his own PR with a time of 1:57.89 in the race.
Ryan Tresaugue (Spring, Texas / The Woodlands) led a contingent of three men and three women in the 1500-meter run, setting a new PR with a time of 3:54.49 that also moves him up to fourth in school history. Whittemore also posted a time of 4:05.40 in the race, while Gallagher crossed the line in 4:16.91 for the Tigers.
In the women's race,
Gianna Keena (Lakeway, Texas / Lake Travis) set a new PR by more than one second, while teammates
Josette Gurule (Santa Fe, N.M. / Academy for Technology and the Classics) and
Allison Fortman (McKinney, Texas / Boyd) missed their own personal best times by less than one second. Gurule led the trio of Trinity women with a time of 4:47.85, while Fortman was just behind her teammate in 4:48.79.
The final event of the meet was the 3,000-meter steeplechase, which saw
Diego Flores (San Antonio, Texas / Great Hearts Monte Vista North) finish with a time of 9:20.70 that is the third-fastest of his career.
Logan Nasky (Irving, Texas / MacArthur) finished in 10:11.45, which is also the third-fastest of his career and his second-best this season.
