SAN ANTONIO – The Tiger men's and women's cross country teams raced to a pair of top-five finishes against non-Division III teams at the University of the Incarnate Word Invitational on Friday morning, hosted at the Windcrest Golf Course.
Trinity's men were third with 83 total points in the four-mile event, while the women were fifth with 136 points scored in their 5K competition. Both teams finished ahead of Division I opponents in the race.
The men were led by
Will Salony (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce), who finished as the individual runner-up with his time of 19:45.8.
Diego Flores (San Antonio, Texas / Great Hearts Monte Vista North) just missed breaking the 20-minute barrier as well, finishing in 20:00.9 for 13th place.
The women's team also produced a pair of individuals in the top 25, led by
Josette Gurule (Santa Fe, N.M. / Academy for Technology and the Classics) in 21st place with a time of 19:01.9.
Charlotte Martin (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) was 24th with her time of 19:08.8. The Tigers also had four more runners among the top 35 people in the race, including
Gianna Keena (Lakeway, Texas / Lake Travis) in 26th (19:15.5).
Krista Wolfhope (Austin, Texas / Vista Ridge),
Sophia Munoz (Austin, Texas / Austin), and
Madison Habeck (Lake Jackson, Texas / Clute Brazoswood) finished back-to-back-to-back to close out the top 35 runners, posting times of 19:41.1, 19:44.9, and 19:47.2 in the race.
Trinity's men had two other runners in the top 35, while another missed out by just one spot.
Logan Nasky (Irving, Texas / MacArthur) was 26th with a time of 20:30.5, while
Nathaniel Trevino (San Antonio, Texas / Central Catholic) finished in 20:33.2 for 27th place.
Ryan Tresaugue (Spring, Texas / The Woodlands) was 36th after crossing the line in 20:55.8 on Friday morning.

The Tiger teams will not return to action until Saturday, October 5, at the DBU Old Glory Gallup in Dallas, Texas. The event begins at 8:15 a.m. and is hosted by Dallas Baptist University.
