CANTON, Ga. – The Trinity University football team had 20 players earn All-Southern Athletic Association honors for the 2025 season, as announced by the league office.
The Tigers had six First Team selections, five players on the Second Team, and nine recognized as Honorable Mention. Trinity finished the regular season with a 9-1 overall record that included a 6-1 mark in SAA play, finishing second in the standings.
Senior offensive linemen
Caleb Bayer (Grandview, Texas / Grandview) and
Conner Keele (Lampasas, Texas / Lampasas) were joined by junior wide receiver
Alejandro Tavarez (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) on the All-SAA First Team Offense. Fifth-year defensive lineman
Jonathan Nwobodo (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) was on the All-SAA First Team Defense alongside senior linebacker
TJ Scannell (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) and sophomore defensive back
Judson Crockett (Austin, Texas / Westlake).
The All-SAA Second Team featured three more Tiger on offense and two on defense. Senior running back Xadrian
Huerta (San Antonio, Texas / Jay) was joined by junior wide receiver
Lamont Nickleberry (Childress, Texas / Childress) and junior lineman
Jonny Conway (Silver Spring, Md. / Johnson) on offense; while senior defensive back
Jaden Powell (Denton, Texas / Guyer) and freshman defensive back
Kody Brown (San Antonio, Texas / Harlan) were the defensive honorees for Trinity.
The Honorable Mention selections included three offensive players and six defensive standouts for the Tigers. Senior running back
Johnny Milo (The Woodlands, Texas / Caney Creek), sophomore quarterback
Hondo Franklin (Allen, Texas / Lovejoy), and sophomore receiver
Tyson Hancock (Smithville, Texas / Smithville) were Trinity's offensive selections. On defense, it was junior defensive backs
Delvin Gantt (Burton, Texas / Burton) and
Anthony Njoku (Richmond, Texas / Travis), junior lineman
Steele Herndon (The Woodlands, Texas / The Woodlands), and a trio of sophomores: linebacker
Dorien Hill (Buda, Texas / Hays) and linemen
Azriel Ngatcha (Irving, Texas / MacArthur) and
Jackson Priesmeyer (Sugar Land, Texas / Strake Jesuit).
Bayer and Keele are both four-time All-SAA selections, while Nwobodo, Gantt, Tavarez, Herndon, and Njoku each earned recognition for the second straight year. Bayer and Keele were both All-SAA Honorable Mention in 2022, followed by two First Team selections for Bayer, and two Second Team awards for Keele. Nwobodo picked up his second consecutive First Team honors and Gantt was picked for the Second Team last year. Tavarez moved up from Honorable Mention status in 2024, while Herndon and Njoku received Honorable Mention status for the second straight season.
Trinity received an at-large bid and will compete in the NCAA Playoffs for the fifth consecutive season. The Tigers received a first-round bye and will face familiar postseason foe Hardin-Simmons University (TX). This will be the third NCAA Playoff meeting between the teams over the last five seasons.
