San Antonio, TEXAS — The Trinity women's basketball team (0-5) continues the hunt for the first win of the season at home against Concordia University (1-3) on Dec. 3 and Texas Lutheran (4-2) on Dec. 5. The odds may be in their favor, as the Tigers are 8-0 all time against the Tornadoes.
The Tigers have been struggling so far this year from the field and on the glass. As a team, they've shot 36% overall and just 26% from three. They're averaging 15.4 rebounds less than their opponents.
Kylie Minter and Lily Sauvageau have been the main bright spots offensively, averaging 15.8 and 12.2 points per game, respectively.
Preview-Stormy Seas
On the Concordia Tornadoes: Concordia began the season on a three-game skid before winning their last outing 58-56 over the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in the final seconds. The Tornadoes have had similar problems to the Tigers, shooting just 37% from the field and grabbing an average of 11.3 rebounds less than their opponents. They are led by junior guard Taysie Trejo, currently averaging 19.5 points per game on 37% shooting.
On the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs: The Bulldogs boast a 4-2 record after starting the season with three-straight wins, including a win against Hardin-Simmons. Recently, they picked up a 75-54 win over Occidental but fell 76-65 against Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Bulldogs have struggled shooting the deep ball this season at 27 percent. However, they are holding opponents to the same percentage. Junior guard Davi'Yanna Jones leads TLU with 11.8 points per game and is shooting 46 percent from the field.
Looking Ahead
The Tigers will have some days off before heading to Belton to take on East Texas Baptist and Mary Hardin-Baylor on Dec. 17th and 18th.
