The Rundown
Â
Timmons scored the first basket for the Tigers as she knocked down a jumper just over 40 seconds into the game to even the score at 2-2. The opening quarter was fast-paced, with both teams exchanging buckets, but Trinity gained early momentum with a 10-2 scoring run led by
Josie Napoli's sharpshooting. Centenary managed to cut the lead to four midway through the quarter, but Trinity responded with back-to-back scores to maintain control. By the end of the first period, Trinity had built a solid 24-20 advantage, setting the tone for the remainder of the game.
Â
The second quarter saw Trinity extend their lead behind an explosive 8-0 run that started with a fastbreak layup by
Livy Sauvageau (Houston, Texas / Second Baptist) and continued with back-to-back three-pointers by Napoli and Minter. Centenary struggled to keep up with Trinity's pace and defensive intensity, as the Tigers forced multiple turnovers leading to easy transition points. Late in the quarter, Centenary found a rhythm with a small 3-0 run, but Trinity quickly regained momentum with a Timmons jumper and score to halt the surge. By halftime, Trinity had taken full control, heading into the break with a 43-31 advantage.
Â
The third quarter opened with Centenary striking first, but Trinity quickly responded with another dominant run. A three-pointer from Napoli ignited another surge that widened the gap even further. Trinity's defensive pressure and timely steals allowed the Tigers to capitalize on their opponents' mistakes. Centenary continued to battle, finding brief success in the paint, but Trinity's shooting proved too much to overcome. By the end of the third quarter, the Tigers had pulled ahead 64-41, leaving Centenary with little hope for a comeback.
Â
In the final quarter, Trinity maintained their composure, fending off any attempt by Centenary to close the gap. Centenary strung together consecutive baskets to cut the lead slightly, but with strong finishes at the rim from the maroon and white, the Tigers kept their foot on the gas. Centenary had no answer for Trinity's balanced attack, and as the final buzzer sounded, the home team celebrated a decisive 89-54 victory.Â

Coach Speak
Â
"Moneyball is more than just Jonah Hills breakout role as a serious actor," exclaimed head coach
Cameron Hill. "It's also Jeremy Browns coming out party. For those who don't know, Jeremy Browns is the minor league catcher who is scared to run to second base. In the final scene of one of the best movies in recent history, Jeremy finally decides to try and run to second base. It was a great decision, because little did he know, he had actually hit the ball twenty feet over the fence! That scene sums up this season for the TOGETHERS, we have had some self inflicted blockades that have kept us from wanting to run to second, but along the way, we have realized that we can actually hit the ball twenty feet over the fence, so getting to second is merely one base on our way home. It's happening. ONWARD!!!"
