The Rundown
Trinity got off to a strong start in the first quarter, hitting 8-of-19 shots (42%) and building a 20-12 lead. The Bulldogs' defense couldn't find an answer for Sauvageau's shooting as she hit a triple on three consecutive plays, giving Trinity their biggest lead of the game. Texas Lutheran responded with a late push, but the Tigers maintained a five-point edge heading into the second period.

Texas Lutheran found its rhythm in the second quarter, outscoring Trinity 24-16 to take control of the game. TLU went on an 11-0 run early in the quarter, capitalizing on turnovers and second-chance opportunities to go ahead by as many as six points. The Tigers fought back with a three-pointer from Minter and a pair of free throws from Timmons reducing the deficit to three at half-time.

The third quarter was evenly matched, with both teams scoring 16 points. Napoli hit a key jumper early in the period to trim the deficit to one, but Texas Lutheran countered with a three-pointer from Elexis Morado to extend the lead. Sauvageau knocked down a four-point play to bring the score within four points, but Trinity couldn't sustain the momentum as TLU took an eight-point lead into the final period.

Texas Lutheran took control in the fourth quarter, using an 8-2 run to push the lead to double digits at 69-56 with just over five minutes to play. The Bulldogs' offense was relentless as they stretched the lead as far as 14 points late on. Another Sauvageau three-pointer brought Trinity within eight, but the Bulldogs executed down the stretch and sealed the win.

Coach Speak

"Valentine's Day, despite its intended purpose of selling cards, flowers, and chocolates, also specializes in disappointment," exclaimed Head Coach Cameron Hill. "Is what it is. Tonight we hit the pillow disappointed, but just like Valentine's Day, it only lasts 24 hours. So we will be back tomorrow to fall in love with basketball all over again. And we will. ONWARD!!!"
