Tiger Softball Tussles With Texas Lutheran In Home Debut

Trinity University Softball will make its home debut against nationally ranked Texas Lutheran University Softball.

The Tigers (5-2, 3-0 SCAC) are coming off a sweep against Austin College in a three game conference series. Trinity outscored Austin College 28-2 over those three games, and plenty of Tigers had notable performances. Josephine Koelewyn (Reno, Nevada / Academy for Arts Careers and Technology) shut down the Austin College batting order in game 1, with only one unearned run scoring during her complete game. Koelewyn also went 3-3 at the plate for an impressive outing. Jordan Arce (Thousand Oaks, California / Thousand Oaks) also threw a complete game in game 2, only allowing one run, while also going 2-3 with 3 RBI at the dish. Carsyn Lee (Flower Mound, Texas / Flower Mound) crushed it on offense, hitting .555 (5-9) in the series with 2 RBI and 5 runs scored.

SCAC Pitcher of the Week

Megan Kriechbaum (Cedar Hills, Utah / Pleasant Grove) won SCAC pitcher of the week for her performance against Austin College. This is the first SCAC Pitcher of the Week honor in Kriechbaum's career.

Per SCAC Release:

Kriechbaum was dominant in the circle in Trinity's sweep over Austin College this weekend. She started game three and did not disappoint, tossing a five-inning no-hitter with seven strikeouts and only one walk. In her outing, she recorded four "three up, three down" innings and had one inning in which she struck out the side. This performance marks Trinity's first no-hitter since 2019.

On The No. 14 Texas Lutheran Bulldogs: Texas Lutheran is off to another great start this season and comes in with an impressive 7-0 (3-0 SCAC) record. They've been excellent on every front, outsourcing their opponents 60-6 over those seven games. Junior infielder Caelee Clark has been dangerous in the leadoff spot, hitting .400 with 7 RBI, 12 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases to start her season. Bulldog pitching has been even more impressive with their team ERA of 0.50, only allowing three earned runs over 42 innings pitched.
