Trinity University Softball continues its homestand this weekend with a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series against the University of Dallas and a non-conference doubleheader against Howard Payne University.
Â
Trinity Softball (5-4, 3-2 SCAC) began their homestand last weekend by dropping a doubleheader to nationally ranked Texas Lutheran.
Josephine Koelewyn (Reno, Nevada / Academy for Arts Careers and Technology) notched another complete game under her belt, allowing only 3 earned runs in eight innings, five of those being "three up, three down," to keep the Tigers in game 1.
Hannah Boudreaux (Pearland, Texas / Shadow Creek) provided a good spark on offense in the series, ending the weekend going 3-8 with an RBI written on her stat sheet.

Â
On the University of Dallas Crusaders: Dallas has gotten off to a rocky start this year, amassing a record of 2-6 (2-4 SCAC) to begin their season. The Crusaders won a conference series against Schreiner in their most recent performance. Junior utility player Katie Duffy-Relf has been the highlight of the Dallas batting order, holding a Batting Average of .286 and leading the team in RBIs with 7. Expect to see sophomore pitcher Ava Trevino in the circle for Dallas. She's been the starting pitcher for the majority of the games Dallas has played this season and holds an ERA of 4.25. Last season, Trinity swept the conference series against Dallas in Irving. The Tigers hold a 38-11 record against Dallas historically.
Â
On the Howard Payne University Yellow Jackets: Howard Payne is struggling to start the 2025 season, dropping their first four games for an 0-4 record. The Yellow Jackets are trying to improve upon their 2024 campaign where they went 14-25 and failed to make the ASC conference tournament. Their most recent outing saw them lose two road games against the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico. Howard Payne's batting order features some dangerous bats, including senior catcher Makayla Wesley who has been red hot to start the season, crushing the ball for a .600 batting average and 3 RBI. Junior pitcher Destiny Sanchez has been the most effective in the circle for the Yellow Jackets with her 4.20 ERA. Trinity swept the doubleheader against Howard Payne in San Antonio last year. Overall, Trinity is 11-4 against Howard Payne.
