#10 Women's Tennis Picks Up Another Win at Home Against Occidental.

Box Score SAN ANTONIO – The 10th-ranked Trinity University women's tennis team powered through Occidental College with a 6-1 victory on Tuesday afternoon at the Butch Newman Tennis Center. 

The Tigers (12-1) have now won eight consecutive games, including four wins against ranked opponents, and hold the 2-0 advantage over Oxy in the all-time series with this win.

The Tigers were tested in doubles, securing two of the three matches to take the doubles point. At #1 doubles, the duo of Trinity Levy (Camarillo, California / Weil Tennis Academy) and Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Ponderosa) claimed a solid 6-4 win. However, at #2 doubles, Olivia Kim (Phoenix, Arizona / Desert Mountain) and Ellie Hughes (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) fell 1-6, while Ruth Hill (Abilene, Texas / Abilene) and first-year Lauren Tin (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) dominated at #3 with a 6-0 victory, ensuring the Tigers grabbed the crucial doubles point with a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

The Tigers showed their dominance in singles play, winning five of six matches, each of which was won in two sets. Hill displayed strong play to win 6-3, 6-4 at #1 while Kim was the only tiger to drop a game, losing 7-5, 7-5 in a very competitive game at #2. Levy at #3 followed with a 6-4, 6-2 victory, putting Trinity just one point away from the win. Andrade, fresh off of her SCAC Player of the Week award, was commanding and won 6-2, 6-1 at #4, before Tin continued the dominance with a win of the same measures. At #6, freshman Katie Schmidt (Prairie Village, Kan. / Shawnee Mission East) put in an impressive performance winning 6-3, 7-6 to wrap up the 6-1 win for Trinity.

The Tigers will look to extend their win streak when they return to the court on Friday, March 14th, at 10:00am as they host the 33rd-ranked Skidmore College.
