No. 10 Tiger Women's Tennis Topples Stevens

Box Score San AntonioThe 10th-ranked Trinity University Women's Tennis Team put on a dominant display against the Stevens Ducks, securing a commanding 7-0 victory to extend their overall record to 15-2.

After the disappointment of the Tigers' midweek loss to the 1st-ranked University of Chicago, they wasted no time asserting their authority in doubles, quickly claiming the crucial doubles point with wins at the #2 and #3 positions. Looking to redeem themselves after a couple of recent defeats in the doubles, the pairing of Ellie Hughes (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) and Olivia Kim (Phoenix, Arizona / Desert Mountain) at #2 was the first to finish, breezing past their opponents with a clinical 6-0 win. The #3 duo of the skillful Ruth Hill (Abilene, Texas / Abilene) and freshman Lauren Tin (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) followed suit, sealing the deal for the Tigers with a 6-0 triumph of their own. With the doubles point secured, the #1 team of Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Ponderosa) and Trinity Levy (Camarillo, California / Weil Tennis Academy) battled hard and secured the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win. The Tigers entered singles play with a 1-0 lead and full of momentum.

The Tigers carried their doubles form straight into singles, where they completely overwhelmed Stevens in every matchup. First off the court was a new face at #2, the freshman Lucy Nabedrick (Plymouth, Minnesota / Wayzata). She made light work of her opponent in the 1st set winning 6-2. This proved enough to double the Tigers' advantage as her opponent was forced to retire before playing the 2nd set. Katie Schmidt (Prairie Village, Kansas / Shawnee Mission East) at #4 followed closely behind, dismantling her opponent 6-1, 6-0 to put Trinity within one match of victory. The decisive point came courtesy of Hill at #1, whose relentless play resulted in a 6-0, 6-2 win, clinching the match at 4-0.

With the victory in hand, the Tigers pushed forward to complete the sweep. Tin at #3 showed no mercy, delivering a powerful 6-1, 6-2 win, while Sam Miller (Georgetown, Texas / Georgetown) at #6 secured a steady 6-2, 6-2 triumph. The final match saw Allison Vo (Sugar Land, Texas / Elkins) at #5 grind out a hard-fought but comfortable 6-1, 6-3 win, to close out a perfect evening for Trinity with a resounding 7-0 result.
