Box Score ST. LOUIS - The 10th-ranked Trinity Women's Tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss to the 14th-ranked Washington University Bears on Friday afternoon, dropping the Tigers' record to 16-4 this season.
The match had a rough start, falling just short of the doubles point by losing 2-1. First to finish was the steady partnership of
Trinity Levy (Camarillo, California / Weil Tennis Academy) and
Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Ponderosa), who battled hard but ultimately fell 6-2 at #1. Next to finish was a new duo of first-year,
Lauren Tin (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) and fifth-year
Ellie Hughes (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) had a gritty match and fell short losing 6-3 at #3 giving the Bears a 2-0 lead and securing the doubles point. The last doubles match was the valiant team of two seniors
Ruth Hill (Abilene, Texas / Abilene) and
Olivia Kim (Phoenix, Arizona / Desert Mountain), who persevered to win their match 6-4 at #2 doubles.
After a tough start the Tigers looked to come back in singles. At #2 singles Kim was defeated 6-2 6-1, then Levy was handed only her second loss of the season falling 6-2 6-1. Hughes battled at #3 but her attempts were unsuccessful as she lost 6-4 6-2. The next match to finish was the resilient Andrade who lost the first set 6-2 but countered back to win the next set 6-2; however, she came up just short as she lost the tiebreaker third set 5-10. Looking to give the Tigers hope was first-yearÂ
Lucy Nabedrick (Plymouth, Minnesota / Wayzata) who obtained the first set 6-3 but tumbled in the back half of the match losing the next two sets at 6-1 each.
