Coach Scannell Named ABCA/ATEC Region X Coach of the Year

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Trinity University Head Baseball Coach Tim Scannell has been named the American Baseball Coaches Association/ATEC Sports Region X Coach of the Year for the 2025 season.

Coach Scannell secures the award for the fourth time in his career, all of which have come since the 2015 season. He won the award in back-to-back seasons in 2015 and 2016 after taking the Tigers to the NCAA III College World Series in both years and winning the NCAA III Championship in 2016. Coach Scannell also won the honor in 2022, meaning he has received the recognition every year that he has taken a team to the World Series. He was also the D3baseball.com Region Coach of the Year in 2015, 2016, and 2022, as well as winning the National Coach of the Year award from both organizations in 2016.

The 2025 Tiger baseball team finished the year with a 41-10 overall record, highlighted by a 27-3 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference record that pushed the team to both the regular season conference title and the SCAC Tournament Championship that secured an automatic bid to the NCAA III Playoffs. Trinity went 3-1 at the NCAA Marshall Regional to advance to the NCAA Super Regionals, where the team swept its way to the final site. Trinity's 15th SCAC Championship came on the heels of Coach Scannell earning his 13th SCAC Coach of the Year award – his third in the last four years.

Coach Scannell has amassed a record of 878-328 (.728) across 27 seasons in charge of the Tiger program. He is in the top 10 among active Division III coaches in total wins and winning percentage, and is Trinity's all-time leader in both categories.
