No. 11 Tiger Women's Tennis Enjoys Another Successful Day at ITA Regional Championships

ABILENE, TEXAS - No. 11 Tiger Women's Tennis has another successful day during the second day of ITA Regional Championships.

The Tigers opened the day in doubles play and wasted no time making their mark. Top-seeded Trinity Levy (Camarillo, California / Weil Tennis Academy) and Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) dominated their first two matches, winning 8-0 against Concordia's Emmy Mize and Parker Bailey, then following with another 8-0 shutout over UMHB's Hannah White and Abigail Hughes.

The No. 2 seeds, Lucy Nabedrick (Plymouth, Minnesota / Wayzata) and Eva Kovachev (Arlington, Texas / The Oakridge School), were equally dominant, cruising to back-to-back 8-0 victories in the opening rounds. The third-seeded pair of Lauren Tin (Austin, Texas / Vandergrift) and Katie Schmidt (Prairie Village, Kansas / Shawnee Mission East) also delivered, blanking UMHB's Masyn Knight and Leane Marie 8-0, then rolling past LeTourneau's Emily Pullen and Alyssa Mae Estrella by the same score.

Trinity's fourth duo, Allison Vo (Sugar Land, Texas / Elkins) and Astrid Kerrman (Edina, Minnesota / Edina), also impressed. They knocked off McMurry's Jenna Vincent and Mehkayla Mulski in their opener, then pulled off an 8-2 upset over fifth-seeded Kristyn Dunn and Monique Ybarra of East Texas Baptist.

In singles, Levy kept her momentum rolling, defeating 13th-seeded Brenna Gordon of Hardin-Simmons 6-1, 6-2. Andrade was flawless in her match, not conceding a single game in a 6-0, 6-0 sweep. Tin also came through with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Sydney Tomlin of Hardin-Simmons, while Nabedrick powered past LeTourneau's Kylie Weeks 6-0, 6-1.

The most dramatic match of the day came in an all-Trinity showdown between Kerrman and Kovachev, with a quarterfinal spot on the line. Kovachev controlled the first set 6-1, but Kerrman rallied in set two, forcing a tiebreaker and winning it 7-4 to take the set 7-6. In the decisive third, Kovachev regrouped and clinched the match with a 7-5 victory.

Tomorrow…

Play resumes tomorrow with singles competition. Levy faces Emma Nordin of UMHB, while Andrade meets Monique Ybarra in a matchup between the No. 3 and No. 5 seeds. Tin and Nabedrick will square off in another all-Tiger battle, and Kovachev will challenge ninth-seeded Lucia Rodriguez of St. Thomas.
