No. 11 Tiger Women's Tennis Open at Home with a Double HeaderĀ
The No. 11 Trinity University Tigers Women's Tennis returns for the first time this season at home this Saturday. They will be hosting a doubleheader at the
Butch Newman Tennis Center. Trinity will face UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs Women's Tennis at 12:00 p.m., followed by University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders Women's Tennis at 3:00 p.m.
After starting the season with a dominant 7-0 sweep over No. 29 Whitman College Women's Tennis, the Tigers carry strong momentum into their first home matches of the spring. Trinity claimed all three doubles matches and controlled every singles court in straight sets, showcasing depth across the entire lineup.
Now they begin the test to defend their home courts.
UC Santa Cruz began its season with a match against Dominican. The Banana Slugs will be looking to establish early rhythm this spring and challenge Trinity in doubles to set the tone. For the Tigers, staying sharp early and controlling momentum from the first ball will be key.
UMHB enters the weekend 1-0 after a 7-0 sweep of McMurry University Women's Tennis. The Crusaders were dominant in both doubles and singles, picking up multiple 6-0 wins across the lineup. They face Southwestern University Women's Tennis on Thursday before traveling to San Antonio, which means Trinity could see a confident and match ready team on Saturday afternoon. UMHB plays consistent and physical tennis, so discipline and composure will be important in the second match of the day.
With two matches in one day, managing energy and maintaining intensity will be just as important as execution. The Tigers will aim to defend home courts, build on their undefeated start, and continue strengthening their early season momentum.
Looking Ahead
Trinity remains at home next week, hosting Our Lady of the Lake University Saints Women's Tennis on February 20.
