Trinity Softball Starts SAA Journey Against Rhodes College

The Trinity Tigers look to begin SAA conference play with a three-game series at home against Rhodes College.

Trinity Softball (14-5-1) swept 4 games against St. Olaf and Bethel this past weekend. On the weekend, Hannah Boudreaux (Pearland, Texas / Shadow Creek) picked up 5 total hits. Carsyn Lee (Flower Mound, Texas / Flower Mound) and Angela Baltzell (Antioch, Calif. / Freedom) each picked up 4 hits, with Lee also driving in 4 total RBI. Hannah Flores (San Antonio, Texas / Taft) added to the Tigers' offense with a 2 RBI triple. Altogether, the Tigers collected 14 stolen bases on the weekend, ultimately contributing to their 4 wins.

With a dominant showing in the circle, Josephine Koelewyn (Reno, Nev. / Academy for Arts Careers and Technology) picked up another 3 wins to add to her 10-2 record, and earned recognition as the SAA Pitcher of the Week.

Preview - First Weekend of Conference Play

The Tigers will play their first conference series as a member of the SAA at home against Rhodes College on Saturday, March 28 at 1 PM & 3 PM and a single game on Sunday, March 29 at 11 AM.

On the Rhodes College Lynx: The Lynx (11-9) opened up their conference play last weekend with two wins and a loss against Sewanee. The Lynx's offense is led by Isabela Barber with a .448 average and 9 doubles on the year so far. Junior Talia Travis has also collected 7 doubles this season. On the bases, Harper Allee-Press and Athena Gonzales each have 9 and 10 stolen bases, respectively. In the circle, the Tigers will likely face a combination of Gina Dudley, Taylor Petty, and Abby Froelich. Dudley has pitched a staff high of 53 innings with 45 strikeouts and 26 walks. As a staff, the Lynx have given up 60 walks, which is 12 more than their opponents.

Key to the Series:

The Tigers should look to focus on putting the ball in play and chipping away on offense each inning. The Rhodes team has a solid lineup that will put pressure on the defense, so the Tigers' defense should be ready to react on every pitch.

Looking Ahead

The Tigers will travel to Mount Berry, Georgia next weekend for another SAA matchup against Berry College on Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4.
