Kovachev Leads Five Tiger Women's Tennis All-SAA Honorees

CANTON, Ga. – The Trinity University women's tennis team placed five players on the All-Southern Athletic Association teams for the 2026 season, which were released by the league office today.

The Tigers swept the SAA major awards as well, with Eva Kovachev (Arlington, Texas / The Oakridge School) being named the Athlete of the Year and the Rookie of the Year in the conference. Head Coach Drew Cohn and Assistant Coach Annie Wise were also voted as the SAA Coaching Staff of the Year, leading the team to a 15-1 overall record and a 5-0 mark in conference play heading into this weekend's SAA Championships. Kovachev posted a 10-4 record this season for the Tigers, with all but one of those matches coming at #1 singles.

Joining Kovachev on the All-SAA First Team in singles were Lauren Tin (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) and Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Carroll), giving Trinity the most First Team singles players in the league this season. Andrade was the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year in 2024, earning All-SCAC First Team honors in singles (2024) and doubles (2025). Andrade and Trinity Levy (Camarillo, Calif. / Weil Prep School) picked up All-SAA First Team doubles honors, while both Levy and Katie Schmidt (Prairie Village, Kan. / Shawnee Mission East) were named to the All-SAA Second Team in singles. The Tiger doubles team of Schmidt and Tin were also voted to the All-SAA Second Team for doubles as well. Levy also earned a spot on the SAA All-Sportsmanship Team for the 2026 season. Levy was the SCAC Freshman of the Year in 2023 and was First Team All-SCAC in both singles and doubles the last three seasons. She is also a three-time ITA Regional Doubles Champion and ITA Doubles All-American, teaming up with Andrade this past fall. These are the first All-Conference honors for both Tin and Schmidt.

Trinity is the top seed at this weekend's SAA Championship Tournament and received a first-round bye. The Tigers will face the winner of #4 seed Rhodes College (TN) and #5 Centre College (KY) on Saturday, April 25, at 1:00 p.m. The SAA Championships will be held on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Trinity won 22 women's teannis SCAC Championships from 1995-2025.
