PALM DESERT, Calif. – Trinity University senior women's golfer
Jessica Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) is tied for fifth after the third round of action at the NCAA Division III Championships, hosted at the Desert Willow Golf Resort.
Mason shot a two-over 74 on Thursday and remains one-under for the tournament. She is one of just six players under par after three rounds and she is just three shots off the lead heading into Friday's final round. Mason had a pair of birdies on the day to bring her tournament total to 12, which is tied for the second-most in the field. She is also tied for third in Par-3 scoring and tied for fourth in Par-4 scoring among all players this week.
Starting on Hole 10 on the Firecliff course today, Mason followed a bogey on 11 with her first birdie on 13 to bring her back to even-par. She carded back-to-back bogeys on 18 and after the turn on Hole 1 (both par fives) but rallied with another birdie on Hole 3 – her second straight day with a birdie on that hole. Mason had four straight pars after that, but bogeyed Hole 8 and finished with a 74.
Mason will play the fourth and final round tomorrow morning and will be chasing the leader for a chance at the NCAA Championship.
