SAN ANTONIO, TX - The Trinity University women's tennis team was perfect on its home courts Thursday, winning all 22 of its matches on day one of the 2026 ITA Southwest Regional Championships at McFarlin Tennis Center.

All nine Tigers won twice in singles to reach Friday's Round of 16, and all four Trinity doubles teams also advanced. Singles play resumes Friday at 9:00 a.m., followed by the doubles Round of 16 at 1:30 p.m.

Top-seeded sophomore Eva Kovachev (Arlington, Texas / The Oakridge School) opened with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Madison Duong of Southwestern University, then held off Emma Curiel of the University of Dallas 6-4, 6-1. Kovachev will face Jolin Ha of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in the Round of 16.

Second seed Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Carroll), last year's singles runner-up, beat Abigail Diamond of Hardin-Simmons University 6-0, 6-1 in the Round of 64. She followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Mikinley Jamison of Schreiner University and will meet Breanna Taylor of UMHB on Friday.

Third seed Lauren Tin (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) lost just three games on the day. She beat UMHB's Laney Sanders 6-1, 6-2, then shut out Kasey Fitzer of Hardin-Simmons 6-0, 6-0. Tin faces Julia Lightner of Howard Payne University next. Fourth seed Astrid Kerrman (Edina, Minn. / Edina) topped Jazmyne Ford-Schartner of East Texas Baptist University 6-2, 6-1 and Taylor Levy of Hardin-Simmons 6-0, 6-3. She will play Sophie Tahtouh of the University of St. Thomas (TX) on Friday morning.

Katie Schmidt (Prairie Village, Kan. / Shawnee Mission East) didn't drop a game in her opener, beating Isabella Hill of Texas Lutheran University 6-0, 6-0. She then defeated Hannah Snyder of St. Thomas 6-1, 6-1 and will face Bailee Lane of UMHB in the Round of 16. Katie-Lynn Hoang (Houston, Texas / San Marino) beat Hannalee Helms of ETBU 6-1, 6-0 and Olivia Sanchez of Austin College 6-0, 6-1. Hoang meets Kynley Craddock of Hardin-Simmons next. Juliana Torchia (Houston, Texas / Houston Heights) opened with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Caroline White of Howard Payne. She then beat UMHB's Finley Williams 6-1, 6-3 to set up a match with Gema Perales of Hardin-Simmons.

Teammates Kritika Voruganti (Frisco, Texas / Centennial) and Allison Vo (Sugar Land, Texas / Elkins) will meet each other in the Round of 16, guaranteeing Trinity at least one spot in the Quarterfinals. Voruganti beat UMHB's Leane Marie 6-0, 6-0 and Allie Dunn of Hardin-Simmons 6-3, 6-1. While Vo took down Isabella Barber of Texas Lutheran 6-0, 6-1, then beat Isabella Macquet of ETBU 6-3, 6-0.

In doubles, the top-seeded pair of Andrade and Kovachev opened with an 8-0 win over Meagan Cole and Maya Jackson of Schreiner. They will face Marlie McArthur and Hannah Snyder of St. Thomas in the Round of 16. Second seeds Schmidt and Tin also won 8-0, beating Samantha Lopez and Reese Johnson of McMurry University. They meet Tiana Braxton and Anaiah Smith of LeTourneau University next.

Vo and Hoang defeated Olivia Sanchez and Elizabeth Mojica of Austin College 8-1 and will face Ford-Schartner and Macquet of ETBU. Kerrman and Voruganti topped Cambrey Johnson and Madeline Chilek of LeTourneau 8-3. They will play Valerie Sanchez and Emily Pullen of Concordia University.

All nine Tiger singles players return to the court tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. in the Round of 16 to fight for their right to reach the Quarterfinals that begin on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. All four doubles teams play at 1:30 p.m., looking to advance to the quarterfinals that begin tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. Trinity is looking to defend the singles and doubles titles it swept a year ago.
