SAN ANTONIO – The Trinity University women's tennis team continued to dominate the competition on the second day of action at the ITA Regional Singles and Doubles Championships.
The Tigers saw seven of their nine singles players win in the Round of 16, advancing to tomorrow's Quarterfinals. Trinity also had all four of its doubles teams advance to the Quarterfinals with wins in the Round of 16. Two of those teams went on to win again and advance to tomorrow's Semifinals.

Eva Kovachev (Arlington, Texas / The Oakridge School) cruised her way to the Quarterfinals with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jolin Ha from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (TX). Tiger teammates
Kritika Voruganti (Frisco, Texas / Centennial) and
Allison Vo (Sugar Land, Texas / Elkins) met in the Round of 16 today, with Voruganti advancing with a 6-2, 6-4 win. Voruganti and Kovachev will meet in one of three all-Trinity Quarterfinals tomorrow.
Lauren Tin (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) won 6-2, 6-2 over Julia Lightner of Howard Payne University (TX) in her Round of 16 match today and will take on Gema Perales of Hardin-Simmons University (TX) in the Quarterfinals. Perales advanced by defeating
Juliana Torchia (Houston, Texas / Houston Heights) 6-1, 6-2 in today's Round of 16 match.
Katie Hoang (San Gabriel, Calif. / San Marino) and
Astrid Kerrman (Edina, Minn. / Edina) are also set to meet in Saturday's Quarterfinals after both Tigers won their Round of 16 matches today. Hoang earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over HSU's Kynley Craddock, while Kerrman won 6-4, 6-4 against Sophie Tahtouh from the University of St. Thomas (TX).

Rosabella Andrade (Southlake, Texas / Ponderosa) and
Katie Schmidt (Prairie Village, Kan. / Shawnee Mission East) will be the third all-Trinity Quarterfinal after both dispatched UMHB players. Andrade won 6-0, 6-0 over Breanna Taylor and Schmidt earned a 6-1, 6-4 win over Bailee Lane.
The #1 doubles team of Andrade and Kovachev earned a pair of 8-0 wins to advance to the Semifinals. The Tiger duo defeated Marlie Mcarthur and Hannah Snyder from St. Thomas in the Round of 16, then advanced to the Semifinals with a win against Lilly Perkins and Cameron Raines from Southwestern University (TX).
#2 seeds Schmidt and Tin opened the day with an 8-4 win over Tiana Braxton and Anaiah Smith of LeTourneau University (TX) in the Round of 16, then finished the day with an 8-3 win over Avery Williams and Finley Williams from UMHB.
The Tiger doubles team of Vo and Hoang notched an 8-3 win over Jazmyne Ford-Schartner and Isabella Macquet from East Texas Baptist University but lost in a tiebreaker 8-7 (7-1) to Hannah Lightner and Julie Lightner of Howard Payne. Trinity's final doubles team of Kerrman and Kritika also won their first match 8-2 on Friday against Valerie Sanchez and Emily Pullen of Concordia University (TX) but also lost in a tiebreaker in the Quarterfinals by a final of 8-7 (7-2) to Jolin Ha and Bailee Lane from UMHB.

Singles play will get the tournament started on Saturday, with all four Quarterfinal matches beginning at 9:00 a.m. Trinity is guaranteed three of the four Semifinalist spots as three of tomorrow morning's Quarterfinals are Tiger vs. Tiger. The Semifinals are scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. tomorrow, with the Singles Championship set for 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
The Tiger doubles team of Andrade and Kovachev will face Lightner and Lightner from Howard Payne in Saturday's Semifinals at 3:30 p.m. Trinity's Schmidt and Tin will also play in the Semifinals at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow, facing off against UMHB's Ha and Lane. The winners move on to the Doubles Championship on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
