Tigers first-year player Katy Poettcker of Colleyville, Texas
(Heritage), won her first-round singles match, but lost the second
Friday at the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships.
Second-seeded Kendra Higgins of the University of Chicago beat
Poettcker 6-1, 6-0 in the round of 16 at Collins Hill Athletic
Club. Poettcker won her opening-round match with a 7-6 (7-3), 4-6,
6-2 victory over Ariel Lewis of Oberlin College.
Poettcker earned All-America honors with her performance. Prior
to the NCAAs, Poettcker was named the ITA West Region Player to
Watch.
The Tigers are led by first-year head coach Ryan Takao.
