San Antonio – Trinity Tigers first-year tennis player Kathleen Lundquist took home the 'A” Singles consolation title Sunday at the USTA/ITA Women's Division III Southwest Region Championships at Delavan Tennis Stadium.
 
Lundquist was a 6-4, 6-3 winner over Lali Satyavada of Southwestern in the consolation final. Earlier, Lundquist beat Southwestern's Jessica Gaines 7-6 (6), 4-6, 10-6 (pro set) in the semifinals.
 
Trinity senior Erin Jamison lost a hard-fought 6-3, 7-6 (3) decision to top seed Lisa Mertz of Hardin-Simmons in the “A” Singles semifinals. Mertz went on to win the event by defeating 13th-seeded Arianne Goddard of Austin College 7-5, 6-2 in the championship match.
 
The doubles title went to No. 1 seeds Sydni Hermsdorf and Emily McRae of UT-Tyler, who beat Mertz and Jennifer Chueng, the second-seeded team, 6-2 6-3. The “A” Singles and Doubles winners advanced to next month's National Small College Championships at Mobile, Ala.
 
On Saturday, Tiger first-year player Laura Roa won the “B” Singles consolation honors, besting Lexie Massing of UT-Tyler 8-1 in a pro set.
 
Trinity will host the men's regional tournament Friday, Oct. 1-Sunday, Oct. 3.
