Box Score San Antonio - Trinity first-year midfielder
Emily Jorgens scored two goals to pace the Tiger women to a 4-0
shutout of the Our Lady of the Lake Saints on Friday night.
Trinity, ranked third in the nation (D3Soccer.com), remained
undefeated at 8-0-0. The Tigers also recorded their sixth straight
shutout of the campaign. Our Lady of the Lake now stands at
4-4-0.
Jorgens put Trinity on the board in the 15th minute, assisted by
first-year midfielder Kirby Peddicord. First-year midfielder Mariah
Risk scored in the 23rd minute, with an assist from first-year
midfielder Kelsey Falcone.
Junior goalkeeper Katie Garrett played the first half, and
accounted for a save from a Saints' shot-on-goal. First-year keeper
Devan Osegueda finished the game by playing the second half in
goal for the Tigers.
Jorgens again went to work with a scoring play in the 69th minute,
on an assist from junior midfielder Katy Lipscomb. The final
scoring combination of the game came in the 89th minute, with
senior defender Nicole Blavet assisting junior midfielder Lindsay
Euers.
For the season, Jorgens upped her scoring total to eight goals,
including four game-winners. Along with her eight assists, Jorgens
has recorded 24 points.
Trinity led OLLU 20-1 in total shots, and 12-1 on goal.
Next up for the Tigers is a 5 p.m. home game with Mary
Hardin-Baylor on Tuesday.
Prior to the start of Friday's game, a large crowd attended the
official dedication of the soccer field. The "pitch" has been named
the Paul McGinlay Soccer Field, after the Tiger men's head coach.
The Isom Memorial - honoring the late Timothy "Tito" Isom - a
former Trinity standout, was also dedicated. The facility is
utilized for announcing, game administration, and is the site of
the team benches.
Trinity's men (4-0-2), ranked sixth in the nation (NSCAA), host No.
13 Chapman at 5 p.m. Saturday.
