Claremont, California – The sixth-ranked
Trinity Tigers women's soccer team recorded its first shutout
of the season with a 2-0 victory over the Chapman Panthers Sunday
afternoon.
The game was played at Pritzlaff Field on the
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps campus. Trinity, which tied C-M-S by a
score of 1-1 on Friday, now stands at 3-0-1, while Chapman dropped
to 2-1-0.
The first scoring play of Sunday's game came in the
67th minute, as Shelby Guenthardt produced a goal on an assist
from Endaisia Love. It marked Guenthardt's second goal of the
season, as well as her second game-winner. Guenthardt made two
shots in the game, both of which were on goal. Slightly over four
minutes later, Kelsey Falcone added her second goal of the
campaign.
Goalkeeper Devan Osegueda, who played for 77 minutes, recorded
four saves in the shutout. She was replaced by Lauren Goldberg who
finished out the match-up.
The Tigers had an overwhelming advantage in total shots, leading
Chapman 32-5. Trinity also led 15-4 in shots on goal.
Chapman's goalkeeper, Marissa Fehrman, posted 13 saves in the
game.
Trinity returns home to host a pair of games next weekend,
starting with Texas-Tyler at 7 p.m. Friday. The Tigers then meet
Texas-Dallas at 2 p.m. Sunday.
