San Antonio - Trinity women's soccer
seniors Emily Jorgens and Kelsey Falcone have earned All-America
honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Jorgens was named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire
NCAA Division III for the fourth time in her career, while Falcone
nabbed Second Team honors for the second straight season.
Jorgens has been named to the First Team in consecutive
years, earning Second Team honors in 2012, as well as Third Team
recognition as a first-year player in 2011.
The Trinity duo became the only players in
Trinity women's soccer history to post 40 or more goals and
assists in a career. Jorgens scored 59 goals and amassed 88 assists
in her four years as a Tiger, for 206 points. She also became
Trinity's all-time leading scorer, assists, and points
leader. Falcone accounted for 54 goals and 43 assists during her
career, for 151 points, and finished each of the last two seasons
with at least 20 goals scored.
Jorgens and Falcone paced a Trinity team which
finished the season with a 22-1-1 record,. The Tigers were ranked
No. 3 in the nation heading into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Trinity, led by 11th-year Head Coach Lance Key, qualified for the
NCAA postseason for the 10th time, and advanced to the third round.
Trinity also captured its sixth consecutive Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference title, and the ninth under the mentorship of
Coach Key.
In the 2014 campaign, Jorgens was the national
leader in assists with 27, and assists per game (1.13 assists per
game), while racking up 19 goals and 65 points. Falcone led the
Tigers in scoring with 20 goals, and added 15 assists to the
offensive cause, for 55 points.
Both players were recently named to to the NSCAA
All-West Region Team. Jorgens attained the accolade for the fourth
straight time, and Falcone picked up the honor for the third
consecutive year.
Jorgens was honored by the College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as the Capital One
Academic All-American of the Year for the second consecutive
season. Last year, Trinity advanced to the NCAA Championship game -
played at San Antonio's Toyota Field - and Jorgens received
the Elite 89 Award for having the highest grade point average at
the semifinals and final (a perfect 4.00 GPA).
Falcone was honored by conference coaches as the SCAC
Offensive Player of the Year this season, as well as being named to
the Capital One Academic All-America First Team.
