Preview - SCAC Championships
While in Houston, the Tigers will go into the championship tournament as the top seed. The Tigers will face off against the fourth-seeded University of Dallas at noon on Friday, November 3rd. If the Tigers take the victory, they will play in the championship match against the winner of Southwestern and Texas Lutheran on Sunday, November 5th at 11:00 AM.
On the Dallas Crusaders: The Crusaders finished the 2023 regular season with a 6-9-1 (4-3 SCAC) record. The Crusaders won their last match of the season with a 2-1 victory over Austin College. The Crusaders are making their first SCAC Tournament appearance since 2021. The Tiger defensive line will turn to stopping the Crusaders' top goal scorer Claire Reed. However, the Tigers would like a repeat of the last game defensively. The Tigers took a 2-0 victory and only allowed one shot in the entire match. The Tigers now hold a 28-0 record against the Crusaders since 2009. In the most recent tournament appearance for the Crusaders, they were defeated by the Tigers by a score of 2-0.
Keys To The Game
Offensive Output: The Tigers controlled the ball well in the most recent match against Dallas. The Tigers spent 81 percent of the match in the attacking half. However, they only attempted 10 shots on goal. In this match, the Tigers will look to create more opportunities to put the ball in the back of the net against Dallas this tournament.
Looking Ahead - NCAA Playoffs
If the Tigers can secure an SCAC Championship, that will give them an automatic bid to the NCAA III Playoffs. The first round of the playoffs will be played on November 11th and 12th with the site to be determined.
