GARLAND, Texas – Trinity completed a sweep of the 2023 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday, marking the fourth consecutive year that both Tiger teams won the conference titles.
Trinity's 20th-ranked women's team won its 20th consecutive championship and its 23rd overall SCAC title in 25 seasons. The 23rd-ranked Tiger men's team won the team championship for the 11th time in the last 12 seasons that includes the fourth straight title. Trinity's men have now won 15 league championships, combining with the women to give Trinity 38 of a possible 50 swimming & diving championships.
The Trinity women finished with 1,077 total points to lead second-place Colorado College (752) by more than 300 points overall in the meet. The men's race was much closer as the Trinity men piled up 979 total points to beat out the 937 points scored by runner-up Colorado College in the meet.
Michael Kohl (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) was named the SCACÂ Men's Swimmer of the Meet for the third consecutive year, while
Konstantine Partalas (San Antonio, Texas / Reagan) earned Men's Diver of the Meet honors for the second straight year.
Neely Burns (Phoenix, Ariz. / Thunderbird) earned the SCAC Women's Swimmer of the Meet honors in her first season with the Tigers, while
Alexis Radhakrishnan (Lexington, Ky. / Paul Laurence Dunbar) was the Women's Diver of the Meet after becoming just the 10th diver in SCAC history to sweep both boards in a SCAC Championship. Head Coach

DAY ONE (Wednesday 2/8)
The first of four days of action at the SCAC meet featured the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay. The Tiger men and women won both events to take the early lead in the race for the SCAC Championships trophy, which will be handed out to the overall winners on Saturday night. Each of Trinity's relay teams in the finals earned NCAA "B" cut qualifying times.Â
The Tiger women set a new SCAC Championship and Trinity record with a time of 1:44.63 in the 200 medley relay. The men's team also set new conference meet and school records in the 800 free relay with a time of 6:41.31 on Wednesday night.
The women's 800 free relay team for the Tigers finished in 7:33.15 for the second-fastest time in school history, which is also the second-fastest time in SCAC Championships history. The men's 200 medley relay time of 1:29.29 is second in school history, though it's also a new SCAC Championship record.
DAY TWO (Thursday 2/9)
The Tigers produced five NCAA "B" cut times and had 13 performances that ranked in the top 10 in school history – led by the men's 200 free relay breaking the Trinity school record and the SCAC Open records.
Trinity opened the evening swim by sweeping the men's and women's 200 free relay championship finals, then had another All-SCAC performer in the women's 500 free. The Tiger women had a pair of All-SCAC performances in the 200 IM that included another individual champion, then the men also had two All-SCAC honorees in their race.
The night session finished with Trinity sweeping the 50 free championship finals with a pair of NCAA "B" cut performances. The men also had another All-SCAC performance in the event, as well as producing four of the top five finishers in the championship final.
DAY THREE (Friday 2/10)
Overall, the Trinity men's and women's teams set five new school records, broke three new SCAC Championships records – as well as one SCAC Open record. The Tigers finished with 20 All-SCAC performances on Friday, as well as 12 combined event wins. Additionally, there were 12 NCAA "B" cut times produced by Tiger swimmers and divers.
Trinity swept the men's and women's 400 individual medley to start the day, setting new records for the SCAC Championships, SCAC Open Meets, and Trinity in the women's race. The Tigers also won the 100 fly with a "B" cut time on the men's side, then swept the men's and women's 200 free with another "B" cut time for the men's team. The 100 breaststroke resulted in another Trinity sweep and another school record broken on the women's side, while the 100 backstroke featured another Tiger men's winner.Â
The day ended with the 400 medley relay and Trinity finished in style, not only setting new SCAC Championship records and new Trinity records, but also snagging two more NCAA "B" cut times in winning both events.
DAY FOUR (Saturday 2/11)
Trinity finished the final day of action at the SCAC Championships with eight individual conference champions and two more relay championships., as well as 10 NCAA "B" Cut performances and 17 All-SCAC performances.
Despite having none of these accolades in the first event - the 1650 free - Trinity still had an outstanding meet. The Tigers swept the men's and women's 200 backstroke and the 100 freestyle, then did the same in the 200 breaststroke. Trinity didn't get the top spot in either of the 200 butterfly races, but the Tigers did finish second and third in both the men's and women's events. Trinity's women won both the championship and consolation finals of the 400 free relay to finish off the meet, while the Tiger men secured the team championship by just 42 points by winning the men's 400 free relay final.
