Trinity Women's Soccer Announces 2023 Recruiting Class

SAN ANTONIO – Trinity University Women's Soccer is welcoming eight newcomers to their team in the fall. Last year, Head Coach Dylan Harrison led the Tigers to a 21-1-2 overall record in his seventh season with the Tigers. Trinity won the SCAC Championship to qualify for the NCAA III Playoffs, advancing to the Third Round before taking its only loss of the year in a 1-0 defeat to Christopher Newport University.

"We have done a great job of identifying early the types of students we believe can be very successful at Trinity," said Coach Harrison. "The team has done an exceptional job in sharing the culture that sets them apart. It is then on us to be aggressive as we try to get those very talented students to also feel Trinity can help them achieve their academic and athletic goals. We did exactly that with this recruiting class."

Let's introduce the newest group of Trinity Tigers:

Madisyn Barganski

Attacking Midfield
Flour Bluff High School / Corpus Christi ECRL
Corpus Christi, Texas
Intended Major: Pre Physical Therapy
Why I Chose Trinity: "I chose Trinity because of the high academic standard and the competitive soccer program."
What I am most excited about: "I am excited to be pushed in both the soccer program and in the high academic environment."
Coach Harrison: "Madi is another student who has been on our radar for years. Madi started out as a student we were helping guide in the college process but little did we know it would end up being Trinity. We are pumped Madi chose Trinity as we know what a great teammate she will be, while also challenging everyone on the field. Madi's work rate, added with a desire to be heavily involved, makes her someone you notice every time you watch her play. Madi will be a tough matchup for any team we play!"

What I am most excited about: "I'm excited to be a part of the Trinity community and an amazing group of girls!"
Coach Harrison: "Is a top level GK that fits our playing style, and game model. Claire can obviously make big time saves but is just as effective at managing the game. Claire comes from one of the very best clubs in the country in Solar who knows how to compete while developing players. We are excited to add another talented keeper to what we think is one of the best GK unions in the country. We know we are in good hands with Claire."

Why I Chose Trinity: "I chose Trinity for the friendly and supportive campus environment. Trinity felt like a second home because of the people on campus, the academics, the faith life it had to offer, the coaching staff, and the individuals on the soccer team."
What I am most excited about: "I am most excited about joining the soccer team in August!"
Coach Harrison: "You have to work hard to be the 'Obra D Tompkins' award winner which is given to one female voted by the Tompkins High School faculty and staff. It is the very same character and values that placed Kayla high on our list. Don't be fooled by the kindness, Kayla is a competitor who can straight up play. Kayla comes from a top Albion club that allows their players to be exposed to different positions. It is that same versatility that will help Kayla compete for time in games immediately."

What I am most excited about: "I'm most excited for a new chapter of my life; new teammates, new challenges, and new opportunities. I'm very excited for what Trinity has to offer in all of those aspects."
Coach Harrison: "Malea is a dynamic outside back who can get up and down the field with ease. Malea has a great playing background that has afforded her the opportunity to train at an extremely high level these past few years. We have waited over a year, as Malea took a gap year before  joining the tigers. As they say, "good things come to those who wait." We waited and we now expect great things from Malea. We are fortunate to have her join TU."

North Little Rock, Arkansas
Intended Major: Biology
Why I Chose Trinity: "I chose Trinity because I was looking for a school that would be challenging both athletically and academically. When I came to visit, I really enjoyed the team atmosphere and felt like Trinity was a place that would help me thrive for the next four years!"
What I am most excited about: "I am excited to meet new people while also getting the chance to play college soccer at a very competitive level!"
Coach Harrison: "As we always throw it out there, we have yet to hear a coach say "we have too many physically strong left footed players." Selah is that and more. Selah impressed at an ID camp when she was recovering from being sick. After the camp, we kept joking that if she was able to shine in that setting, what are we to expect when she is fully healthy?  Great to get the AR connection now before we move into the new conference with Hendrix."

Finley Hoover

St. Agnes Academy / Albion Hurricanes 05G ECRL
Houston, Texas
Intended Major: Biology
Why I Chose Trinity: "I chose Trinity because of the great balance of competitive athletics and challenging academics. The team was so welcoming and I loved the culture the girls have, which made me want to be a part of it."
What I am most excited about: "Being a part of a great team of girls with a fun and driven culture."
Coach Harrison: "Finley is a great kid who we were hoping could play well, before we finally had the chance to watch her. Her attitude and playing style quickly got the attention of our team as she banged home goals at our college ID camp. Finley knows what Trinity is, as her sister had a stellar career at TUWSOC. Finley certainly brings a different type of game than her sister but we are confident it will lead to success with the Tigers. We like players who love to score goals and Finley can find the back of the net in a variety of ways. We are lucky to have Finley."

Why I Chose Trinity: "I chose to attend Trinity University due to the balance of both challenging academics and competitive athletics."
What I am most excited about: "I'm most excited about the college experience I will be getting by attending a rigorous university, on a competitive soccer team, in a community-centered environment."
Coach Harrison: "Siena knew pretty early that high academics was going to be an important part of her decision, we are fortunate that Trinity offers top notch academics. Siena is a technical player who is very comfortable on the ball but understands when to keep it or move it quickly. We will spend the first few weeks seeing exactly where we can get the most out of Siena's strengths as her overall game can be effective in a lot of roles within our team system. We value teammates who want the ball and have the playing ability to make a huge impact at any moment in the game. Siena is a great example of that."

Coach Harrison: "Daryan is a smart player who loves to get into a tackle. What more can we ask for?  How about, also an amazing person who really gets it done in the classroom. We continue to look for players who can mix it up. Daryan can not only break up plays, she can also start the attack on the dribble or with a range of passing.
