DESTIN, Fla. – The 14th-ranked Trinity University women's golf team finished in a tie for eighth place among 24 teams after wrapping up the three-day Golfweek October Classic that was hosted at the Sandestin Resort and Club.
The Tigers shot a three-round total of 926 as a team, finishing with today's score of 318. Trinity shot a 307 to open the tournament on Sunday, then produced its best round of the week with a 301 on Monday. Trinity tied with fellow Southern Athletic Association member Oglethorpe University (GA) and finished just five shots out of a spot in the top five. DePauw University (IN) was one shot clear of the Tigers, while another SAA member Sewanee (TN) was sixth with a total of 922, and the University of Wisconsin-Stout finished fifth with a 921 total score. Williams College (MA) won the tournament with an 872 score over three rounds.
Mason Fikes (Dallas, Texas (Plano West) had her best round of the tournament today and led Trinity with a two-over 74. She carded two birdies on Tuesday and a total of seven for the tournament, finishing in a tie for 21st place individually with a total score of 228 (77-77-74).
Jessica Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) was Trinity's top finisher, wrapping up the tournament with a score of 224 (74-72-78) that put her in a tie for 13th place individually. Mason had four birdies in her opening round and finished with two more today to post 10 total for the week.
Naaz Mehta (Newton, Pa. / Council Rock North) shot an 82 today to wrap up the week and finished with a 235 (78-75-82) across three rounds, tallying two of her five birdies in round three.
Natalie Lewis (El Paso, Texas / Coronado) shot 240 (78-77-85) for the tournament, while
Lauren Huddleston (Anthem, Ariz. / Boulder Creek) finished with a score of 246 (78-84-84) for the week.

This was the final event of the fall season for the Trinity women's golf team, but the Tigers will be back in action in the Spring, beginning with a trip to Pinehurst, N.C., February 20-22.
