KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Trinity University men's soccer senior
Adam Knutson (Dripping Springs, Texas / Dripping Springs) has been named the 2025 United Soccer Coaches Division III Player of the Year.
Knutson is just the second Tiger men's soccer player in program history to be named the national player of the year, as well as the first since Josh Smith collected the honor in 2003.
A two-time United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Region performer, Knutson added First Team All-American honors to his trophy case this season. He was also named the Southern Athletic Association Offensive Athlete of the Year and earned a spot on the All-SAA First Team. Knutson was also the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2024, as well as the SCAC Newcomer of the Year in 2022. He is a four-time All-Conference selection, including three years on the First Team. Knutson scored eight goals and added five assists during the 2025 season, with six of his goals being game-winners.
Trinity advanced to the NCAA Championship game for the third time in school history – the first since 2007 – this season, finishing with a 20-2-1 overall record. The Tigers finished as the national runner-up after falling to top-ranked Tufts University (MA) 2-1 in overtime. Trinity also won the SAA Regular Season Championship in its first year in the league.
