KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Two Trinity University men's soccer players received academic honors from the United Soccer Coaches for the 2025 season.

Senior Luke Chandler (Glasgow, Scotland / Balfron) and junior Samuel Theiss (Boerne, Texas / Boerne) were selected for both the Scholar All-Region Team and the Scholar All-America Team by the organization.

Chandler was Second Team Scholar All-Region and Second Team Scholar All-American for the first time in his career, while also being named to the All-Southern Athletic Association First Team and the United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team. As a center back for the Tigers, he was one of the keys to a defense that recorded 12 shutouts and allowed just 14 total goals in 23 games played. Chandler also contributed offensively by scoring three goals and picking up three assists on the year.

Theiss, who was recently named a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American and a College Sports Communicators Second Team Academic All-American®, adds United Soccer Coaches First Team Scholar All-Region and First Team Scholar All-American to his list of accolades for the 2025 season. He was a First Team All-SAA selection and was named to the All-Tournament Team for both the SAA Championships and the NCAA Final Four.

Trinity finished the year with a 20-2-1 overall record that included a 7-0-0 conference mark that led to a SAA Regular Season Championship. The Tigers lost in a penalty shootout in the SAA Tournament, then battled all the way to the NCAA Championship game before falling in overtime. It was the program's third trip to the NCAA Final and the first since 2007.
