Tiger Women's Soccer Returns To San Antonio To Take On Hardin-Simmons and McMurry

After finishing up their first travel weekend, the Tigers faced a decent outing, starting strong with a commanding 3-0 victory over the University of Dallas. However, the weekend tested their resilience when they went up against the No. 12 MIT squad, facing a 1-3 loss. The Tigers return home this weekend looking to regain momentum and extend their success.

SAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Alex Doran

Sophomore Alex Doran (Boerne, Texas / Geneva School of Boerne) has been selected as the SAA Offensive Player of the Week.

From the SAA Player Release:

Doran led the 10th-ranked Trinity University women's soccer team to a 1-1 record on the road this weekend, defeating the University of Dallas before falling to #12 MIT. Doran scored the game-winning goal in the 35th minute against Dallas on Friday afternoon, then knocked in the first goal of the game against MIT to put the Tigers up 1-0 at the time. After producing an assist in each of the first two games of the year, Doran was able to get her first two goals of the 2025 season over the weekend and now leads the team with six points in the first four games.

Preview - Back at the Paul

Trinity returns home to the Paul this weekend, opening play on Friday, September 12, at 6:00 PM against Hardin-Simmons University before they face off against McMurry University on Sunday, September 14, at 4:00 PM.

On the Hardin-Simmons Cowgirls: Hardin-Simmons has long been one of Trinity's consistent and competitive opponents, with meetings between the two programs often carrying the weight of a rivalry. The Tigers and the Cowgirls have traded blows in recent years, making every matchup feel like more than just another game on the schedule.

In 2024, Trinity delivered a commanding 3–0 victory, powered by goals from Bri Werner (Woodbine, MD / Glenelg), Malea Cesar (Portland, OR / Sunset), and Madisyn Barganski (Corpus Christi, TX / Flour Bluff). That win carried extra meaning for the Tigers, serving as redemption after a pair of heartbreaking results the year prior. In 2023, the two sides battled to a dramatic 3–3 draw in the regular season, only to meet again in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. There, Hardin-Simmons edged Trinity 1–0, abruptly ending the Tigers' postseason run. That history has only intensified the stakes whenever these two teams share the field. Fans can expect a matchup fueled by passion and the lingering memory of past battles from the Tigers, who hope to pick up right where they left off last year against the Cowgirls.

On the McMurry Warhawks: The Warhawks are newer members of the SCAC conference, the conference that the Tigers have just left to join the SAA. These 2 teams met up 2 times in the past couple of years. The first meetup was in 2021, where the Tigers delivered a 3-0 win. Their most previous meetup came in 2024 for a conference game matchup, where the Tigers defeated the Warhawks in a 3-0 win, with goals from Kylie Harris (Missouri City, TX / Ridge Point), the now graduated Abby Schneider, and the Tigers new Graduate Assistant Coach Maya Ozymy. The Tigers controlled much of the match, with the final shot count being 22-4 in the Tigers favor. While they were able to dominate against the Warhawks last season, the Tigers must ensure they come out sharp and ready to create a repeat win.

Looking Ahead

The following weekend, the Tigers will be staying at home to face off against Concordia University on Sunday, September 21st. The Tigers will also face off against the very familiar Texas Lutheran University Tuesday, September 23th.
