PALM DESERT, Calif. – The 18th-ranked Trinity University women's golf team finished ninth at the NCAA D-III Preview tournament, which was hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (CA) at the Desert Willow Golf Resort over the past two days.
The Tigers shot a two-round total of 606 (301-305) over the weekend, clipping hosting Claremont by two strokes. Trinity moved up one spot after finishing the first day in 10th place.
Jessica Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) led the way with an even-par score of 144 (72-72), which put her in a four-way tie for 11th place individually. She paced Trinity with six total birdies over the past two days, including four in Saturday's opening round.
Lauren Huddleston (Anthem, Ariz. / Boulder Creek) shot 152 (73-79) with a total of four birdies, while
Naaz Mehta (Newton, Pa. / Council Rock North) was just three strokes back with a score of 155 (79-76) that included the second-best round among the Tiger golfers today.
Natalie Lewis (El Paso, Texas / Coronado) shot 161 (77-84) and
Mason Fikes (Dallas, Texas (Plano West) shot 165 (87-78) to round out Trinity's competitors.
